Save your Presets in .KXP files !!!
Tip for anyone using this synth;
When you have made your own Custom Presets,
make sure you Export them to a .kxp file once a while!
This will prevent Preset loss when you do a 'Global kX Reset Settings'.
(Sorry for the big font, but people tend to overlook important posts)

Of course, they do sometimes , thanks for the tip anyway.
@trevbushell: found the Midi-FX in CubaseSX, it is called "Controller" (what else ) and can be inserted in a midi-track to control all possible cc-messages via faders. You can open more panels to get more faders at a time (if your monitor is big enough ).

yes i know, which was why i said "I'll understand if you dont want to explain"
thanks anyway Lemury and Travelrec.... all tutoring greatly recieved from a guy without much knowledge around all things technical!!! Wouldnt it be good if the music programs just knew what you wanted to do, intuitively!

No, that's not the case.
I wrote that note "..All this is 'standard midi stuff' not kX or ASynth speficic.."
so that people understand that standard conventions are beeing used here.
Not some new 'invention' making things more difficult then they already are.

Ah, ok thanks lemury, i thought i was being 'told off' for posting a question that wasnt kx related!
just to say... this site is great thanks to people like you, travelrec, russ etc etc... i've learnt more (in the last few weeks ive been acessing the site) about computer music production and how to use the power i have from my APS card more than i have learn't since i brought the card 7 years ago!!!
so thanks for answering all my what i percieve as probably very simple, newbie questions!

Lemury, TravelRec,
Sorry I didn't post a quick reply to your last response. I have been busy doing as you suggest. USING THE DSP! You couldn't have been more right. Thanks again. I created a DSP with 3 instances of the Asynth, still have cubase working properly, soundfonts are working etc. All using the dsp and not the kx mixer. I haven't noticed any noticable probs. One question (KEEP IN MIND I AM STILL LEARNING). I am using SRC and MX6 inside the DSP as well as ASIO. What should I connect the Asynth to to give me the best sound and the most instances (I would like 6). I currently have the instances of Asynth connected directly to the MX6. Should I have them connected to ASIO? Hope this is not a crazy question. Thanks again for a great job with the drivers, Asynth and your advice to us KX users.

If you dont wish to affect the sound of ASynth by something, you can also connect the instances directly with the ASIO plugin. Cancelling the mixer will free up some GPRs that can used then with more ASynth instances. ASynth volume then can be controlled via automation (midi cc) out of cubase. I think, you will discover a lot of funny things in the next time while working with the plugs and the DSP ! Please post your sound-files here!!!

6 ASynth instances won't fit in a SBLive(10k1 based card). (4 at most).
You would need an Audigy (10k2 based card) which has twice as much dsp resources,
or use a second card.
What do you mean by; "best sound"?
"best sound" in terms of Instrument sound is a relative thing. (matter of taste)
"best sound" in terms of (digital) audio quality follows the same rules laid down for any digital audio system.
Which in this case roughly boils down to;
keep digital signal levels as high as possible but without clipping.(especialy when recording)

Thanks for the reply. 4 Synth instances will be great. I may try the direct ASIO connection but that isn't a must since it seems to work fine connected to the MX6. By "best sound" I mean the quality of the sound(which is digital and therefore should be good quality) and low latency. I would think latency isn't an issue since Asynth runs from the chip? Is that correct? Sorry if I sometimes seem ignorant to some of the correct terms when discussing the DSP and features, I am still learning. Thanks again.

Yep that is correct.
Of course there is always 'latency' (response time might be a better word),
but not in the sense of VSTi softsynths.

note that if you connect the synth to ASIO and mix it in Cubase you will be dealing with asio latency.

LeMury, why have you encrypted the microcode that way, I find that very funny.

That goes for *any* signal connected that way.

I think you misunderstood. I asked why do you try to hide your code (not that it's very effectively hidden ). Other wise I think the result is good, I like it.

hello,
had some fun with your synth lemury, thanx!
heres the result. i think im a bit wierd with regard to songwriting than most, so may be a bit too eklectic for most... its just a bit of fun really to show how you can make a dark bit of music with the Asynth sounds.
ALL the tracks were made by Asynth thro dsp (apart from drums... of course this could change if lemury invents a dspdrum machine!!! lol) all fx are dsp too! well done all you guys who have worked hard making these fx plugins they are great!
http://www.enginecreations.com/trevb/mp3/trevb/asynthomania.mp3
anyway ther you go, hope you like it.
EDIT-its only 182kb so quick to download but not such good quality!

Whow....that really sounds great!
Very cool patch programming and I really do like the composition.
Could you perhaps provide a better mp3 quality version?
FYI; I'm working on an 'Analog Drum Machine' to complement ASynth.

Thanks everyone for the feedback, yes its a great synth isnt it! so powerful and versatile. yeah i really like the song too and will probably work on it more and give it to travelrec for his c.d project! (great idea travelrec)
Lemury re drum machine- Wow... if you do half as a good a job on drum nachine as you did on the Asynth I cant wait to get my hands on it! Cos the Asynth is mind blowing... i think some of the reason why, is because its so simple to control and use, i have loads of soft synths at my disposal and havent really used them much. but the asynth... well ive spent hours on it already, playing with it and stuff. the sounds are divine! brilliant work lemury....
EDIT- the only way i can get the better quality is give you a big 4.5mb 48,000hz mp3 file im afraid at the mo. because every time i export audio from cubase to 44,000 hz 320kbits mp3 it loses quality! Am i doing something wrong travelrec?
http://www.enginecreations.com/trevb/mp3/trevb/asynthomania.mp3
also im not the best at mixing, any tips to improve the song mix wise?
trev

is the last song I posted better for you quality wise?

Yes, this one will do just fine. It sounds really great to me!
(No need to rush/finish the whole song. Private life is much more important!)
Could you add some short text description like how many ASynth Instances etc. etc. or whatever you like to mention?

ok...no probs.
song "asynthomania" -ALL of song (but drums) made with asynth!
profx setup...
2 midi controlled Asynths in dsp into mx6 with 2 effect sends.
1 Uart Asynth added in dsp thro mx6 with effects to allow further layering of ASIO recorded asynth parts.
(3 asynths is max that dsp will allow you to squeeze in!)
All sent into cubase and mixed. lots of slider tweaking during recording in real time.....So easy and sooo much fun! Oh joy!! many thanks to lemury (and travelrec for setup tips).
