S/PDIF routing for inputs and outputs
I already have two cards installed in my system (CT4670 + SB0060) and I managed to route, via S/PDIF (with my CDROM digital cable), the stereo input of one of the cards to the other one.
I can therefore use four channels for live processing simultaneously. Great! But anyway, from my ASIO app (Bidule), i can still only route audio signals only to the second card, rendering the outputs on the other card useless. I would love to have more outputs too, and I tried plugging, by following the AUD_EXT and SPDIF_EXT pinouts at http://www.rvs.uni-hannover.de/people/einhorn/spdif/ Unforunately I couldn't get more of those digital internal cables in my area. I couldn't send the signal to the CD S/PDIF input since the cable i'm using doesn't fit on that input (i'm using one of the audio cables from the CDROM) However I couldn't make it sound, the CT4670 isn't receiving any signal. There are enough I/Os via S/PDIF so you can have 4 inputs and 10 ouptuts from your ASIO host. Has anyone tried to do this with succesful results? thanks BiCho

Hi BiCho!
Yes, successfully tested. If you take short cables they don´t need to be special ones. Look here for more details. Via SPDIF you can have 3 stereo ins and 4 stereo outs (additional to the analog ones on the cards bracket). Greetings! TravelRec.

i know, bu that takes quite a lot of soldering and electronics knowledge. I would like to take the best out of the system without a soldering iron

If you have only one-way spdif connection try using the other card as the interface to asio
It should work unless there's some specific issue to your card models (I don't think so). The bad thing is that I cant tell you what pins on the AUD_EXT I'm using. I think I just took the ones labeled SPDIF in and out (my live has cdrom spdif pins cut so i used aud ext for input too). I also had spare cdrom cables which have too wide connectors. What i did was to split the connector in half with a cutter (be carefull) and peeled other plastic that interferred. There's yet another way, that is to use asiox generic asio driver. It supports more than one card simultaneously, so they dont need to be linked. |

In my opinion this is not possible , but try your best with connecting cards together. If you have enough resources, this may be a working solution.Greetings! TravelRec.
