Micro-Delay for time alignment
I would like to make a request - would someone please create a time delay to help to compensate for the physical offset between acoustic centers of loudspeaker drivers. This is one of the holy grails of speaker building, and very difficult to achieve except by physically staggering the drivers or by building nasty all pass filters.
I tried to make a variant of the Delay effect but failed terribly - I'm a guitar amp stylist, not a programmer! I would be so grateful to have pure and simple mono time delay with a 0.00 ms to 0.50 ms adjustment range, which should allow compensation for speaker offsets of up to approximately 172mm [6.77inches]. In return I can offer only to spread your fame in the loudspeaker building community. Regards, Dave Toronto Canada Relevant Link: http://sound.westhost.com/ptd.htm |

I have compiled a "simple delay" plugin, here you have it:
sdelay.rar His range is from 0.0416ms to 2ms, with steps of 0.0208 ms. If you need more than 2ms delay, connect various instances in serial (the delays are added). Enjoy!!. PD: Nice link. |

ok..not having time right now to go over the data...where would you use this?..in the signal chain of a 5.1 system?...put 1 instance on every driver?...then adjust to taste or is there a formulea?..I have heard of this problem before but haven't delved deeply into it..I would appreciate some info...

WOuld it be nesscary to put a instance of the delay plugin on each channel?..well the fronts anyway. thank you in advance.

No..I was using that just as an example. I put it in my signal chain going to my center though. I was just messing around with it...I am getting the idea what it is for though.
