Wink *.kx Presets

Hi Guys, I'm a new entry of this great community

Here's my questions:

Where can I find any presets *.kx for the DSP ?

Lowenz

P.S.: Can I set 5 ms in ASIO Panel with a SB Live! 1024 & AthlonXP 2000+ on KT400 ?

Picture of what I'm using.

http://kotisivu.mtv3.fi/aw_k/record-shot.gif

You can download preset from here.

There's four effects you'll have to dowload too.

APSExpander is a expander which is used as noisegate in my preset. Found this from boards you're reading. APS Compressor is found from here too.

Shift is a lite version of delay, which I found from the boards, and then edited buffer to smaller for lower itram usage. There's wet/dry level mixing allso as you can see..

6CH-DamiX is a mixer, wich I have edited to suite my purposes too:

First you can mix fx-busses to line-in, and take clean and clean/wet mixed output's separately. In my preset first 8 asio channels takes clean and last 8 takes clean/wet mixed ouputs.

Then there's a 'through' channel, which is for mixing line-in and fx-channels to default left/right channels for monitoring or listening youre recording without asio host. You can do this with monitor slider (50% for equall record/default xing).

In the preset there's three input channels for recording:
1) line-in channel: Comes from Tubeman to live's mic-in->noisegate->compressor->tubesound->left channel only to ~50ms delay-duplication->line-in
2) fx1 channel: comes from tubesound to -> lowpass->everb->left channel only for ~500ms delay-duplication-> fx1 -input, mixed 50/100 to-line
3) fx2 channel: comes from tubesound to -> autowah -> fx2 -input, mixed 10/100 to line-in.

I'm quite tired while writing, so sorry for language and possible errors. If you try or use this stuff, please post comments, suggestions or other feedback here.

Cool!

Thanks for these presets - this is a great help.

I think the KX project web site &/or this formum should have an area where users can share presets.

Cheers !

why share presets ? thats not creative drivers ...
when we want something, we go to the dsp and made ourself !
i think i have about 50 presets for differents events ... game , music , recording , ...

this drivers is NOT creative drivers and are made for experienced ones who want to explode her sound card(s) ...

have fun

so, if you're a noob, don't use kx drivers ...
i am sorry to say that but kx is not made for noobs ... if you want to have presets like 'arena' or others, keep creatives drivers.
so such presets are not usefull for experienced users.
if you don't know what is a compressor, an equalizer or an highpass filter, this drivers are not for you.
i know, i am very hard.
so you can also have creatives effects by go to DSP and route modules like that :
http://fensofty.free.fr/images/effectsfornb1.jpg
you will have these presets by clic on reverb :
http://fensofty.free.fr/images/effectsfornb2.jpg
but i repeat that this drivers are not made for noobs ...
ps : this reverb addon can be found on this forum in the DSP section called 'effects in uniform' ...

Fensoft, KX drivers can do both: simple and complex. There's no limit. Sharing presets is fine, even for ideas on how to get complex stuff you can't realize by yourself...

ahahahahah

My ONLY GREAT interest is signal processing: I'm student of software & electronic engineering, i see companders & filters ALL DAYS eheheheheh
DFT & FFT are my bread

I'm a newbie of kx-drivers, not of audio fensoft

Is there anything actually wrong with sharing presets? Sounds like a great idea to me... No reason to limit kx to people who can write their own dsp plugins. I use kx because there are nice plugins already available, and because it is just better all-round than the CL drivers.

nothing wrong about sharing them but i think they are made for each system, each configuration and each ears... i personnaly use kX with a midibox controler and sharing my presets will not be useful for others kx users. so as i say, every kx's plugin already have presets as creatives one, but i repeat that customs presets will be better for our usage, depends on the hardware we have...

Hey...

fensoft, sharing presets and stuff only makes u consentrate more on the music than with all the technicalities. This is one of the main purposes of KX in my opinion. U can do a lot of the stuff that KX
provides using off-line technologies (recording, applying effects on the audio, testing, not getting what
u want, and everything all over again...). I'm a computer programmer "in nature", but when i wanna make music, i wanna make music, i don't want to program anything, unless i have to. Messing with the technical
stuff more than it is neccessary is just a waste of inspiration...

That's why i think sharing is a gr8 idea.

And btw, stop thinking too much of yourself... The whole meaning of sharing is to share IF U WANT. Don't worry no one will force u to share any of your ingenious plugins if u don't want to.

i also think that if you want to make music, the default preset is perfect : for all effets you've got your sound program (cubase or what you want)
now if you want to record it also depend on where you link every instruments, on what you can do of the record is bot perfect with every plugin.

to conclude, i'm not against sharing my presets (.kx) ; i just think it's unuseful because it depends on hardware we have (more than 1 sound card linked with spdif in & out for example or what we want)

so... your create music ? keep the default presets ...
i think that we are not creating 'presets' with our imagination but just with our needs...

anyone can confirm what i say ? or am i the only who make presets for my need ?

1. Is it useful sharing 'DSP Plugins'?
Yes. Not everyone can code DSP Plugins.
And you can find them in this forum, i also personnaly try to make some DSP plugins to learn me the base of the dane language, and print the emuasm document to read it in boring lesson...
thanks to me, there are now the crossfader plugin and probably another things

If it wasnt for sharing:

then you wouldn't have the kx drivers to write plugins for. Nuff said

preset sharing

Sometimes seeing how somebody else sets something up -- and trying it out -- is the best way to start llearning how to make your own unique settings.

After you do it for awhile, you will prefer to "roll your own". But using set-ups to get a feel for what you can do with KX that you cannot do with the Creative drivers is a great way to start experimenting. Especially with learning the difference between sending the signal to the record input and just to the speaker outputs.

Was looking for some tips and ran across this post . . . I couldn't help but laugh. I wonder if the original poster had any idea the irony of the above 2 quotes . . . from the very same post. Or was it intentional?

thats only the truth ... i'm speaking english very badful and kX drivers are not made for noobs who want to have'nt to do anythings after installation ... preworking drivers ... as creatives ones ...

now if you're a noob who like difficulties, you will learn as all others and, why not, learn the emu10k asm language (called dane in kX) as i do ...

Thumbs Down!

Don't you think this is a lot like somebody telling you to either learn to speak English properly or don't speak it at all? English is not for noobs and dumb foreigners.

I don't really think that way, but I think you are being pretty snob
bish and arrogant. This is unhelpful and unfair. Why should people forgive your lack of knowledge of English if you won't forgive a noob's lack of knowledge of a new, somewhat complicated soundcard driver?

Smilie

Sorry Max . . . anyway, that was really my point. It's best to try to be kind and helpful to each other, and to try to avoid elitism. We're all here to accomplish the same basic goals, and we all come to it with different strengths and weakness.

I know a whole lot of really amazing professional musicians who get completely overwhelmed and intimidated by computer stuff, and there is a lot to wade through with this stuff. They should be equally entitled to be able to use these Creative cards to their full potential as someone who may or may not be as good a musician or is a music hobbyist but is particularly adept and knowledgeable with computers.

So I'm with you. This is the intent of my apeal, rather than to flame anybody in particular.

Peace,

Scott
