a few crazy questions
i produce drum&bass useing a sblive5.1 with kxdrivers... i cant afford a more powerful card right now and im looking for more ways to push what i can do with my set up.
ive got some newbie questions...
is it or could it be possible to write code for a synth that would run directly off of the dsp and have midi control parameters? is this something that would be difficult or beyond capabillites of the chip? again, i have no experence with [dsp] programing, and i dont know limitations or even what is done for writeing plugins and such. also, would it even make sense to write a synth that would run entirely off the dsp? (useing minimal cpu)
if a synth is out of the question, would something like a notch or multimode filter be difficult to program?
one final question, regarding useage of multiple cards with the EMU10k1 dsp. is there any possible way to combine the processing power of two cards as one audio driver? i.e. each set of outputs coresponds to a larger mixer/panel.. or a plugin for each card that identifies cards one and two and in turn, sends/receives instructions from a single audio driver? im trying to figure out how to take more load off of my cpu so i can run more plugins/vsti/etc.
im sure that didnt make much sense at all. lol. i apoligize for my ignorance. if any of this seems even vaguely reasonable... thoughts or further insights would be much appreciated =)
-cheers

Welcome Destruct
I cannot honestly say I know the secret to that one but this is a post I have seen a lot. I recommend you PM Macdaddy, he is a musician that may be familiar with your problem, you can find his posts everywhere, but a PM might get him quicker, ha ha....good luck and again...Welcome to DH

Hi destruct. All that things you say, can be done or are done yet ():
MIDI CONTROL PARAMETERS: See Automation for each plugin.
MUTIMODE FILTER: You can try the ones located al the EQ&Filters section (in the list of plugins)
MULTIPLE CARDS: KX drivers can handle multimple cards. There is a mixer and a DSP for ech one.All the cards works at the same time, but you must configure them one by one.

kX comes with a wave generator (sine, square, noise, tringle and sawwoord)
combining that with all kinds of effects, should make a simple kind of synth, controlable by automation...
But this all wont add too much instruments, cause the dsp is a bit limited in this way...
Maybe recording your own set of instruments, and put them in an homemade sf2 works a bit for you?
Like, record a whole range of notes of 1 high cpu consuming vsti, and make an sf2 out of it...?

Thanks for the replies everyone. i updated my drivers to the latest build and got the ufx pack too. much better than the older ver i was useing.
was looking at the set-up of the dsp effects and such.. i like how it is simmilar to reaktor's patching interface
the wave generator is also very handy.. plus playing low frequecies is fun
massive kudos for the parametric eq, helps me sort out a bit of eq on my monitors.
thanks again!

yep, the param eq is really rad. i too got the idea about a dsp-driven modular synth - just like reaktor - when i first saw kx. that would really kick ass. maybe someone will make it happen one day.
