DSP quality considerations

if I have too mutch things going on in the DSP (EQ, Gain, MX6/8 etc..) and my original signal is a 16-bit 44,100 hz, the questions are:

1. if im using audigy 2/zs, does the emu10k2/2.5 works with 24-bit signals ?
2. if it does, should I resample (SRC) in software from 16-bit/44,100 to 24-bit/48,000 to improve quality and avoid mathematical truncations that would otherwise result from operations on 16-bit values inside the DSP ?
3. where should the location of the b2b/fxbusX be during the DSP configuration ? after every plugin ? just at the beginning or at the end ?
4. if the 15.5-bit playback problem occurs when using 16-bit input to the DSP how does it occur when a 24-bit signal is entering the DSP ? (in case #1 happens to be true)
