HoWdY!!

I'm not an expert here, but I have learned a few things.

That's an older version of the driver you have ... there is a newer version out kx3538M ... you can download it right from here. Just look at the "Sticky" messages to find it.

The standard setup should work just fine for playing music and games. It really is a quality driver although the learning curve is a little long.

There is also a site where you can download different setups for different purposes for your kx drivers.

Look around and read the messages. There are TONS of them and it will probably take a while to find what you are looking for.

Hope this helps!

Good Luck!
Dennis

Yes I have like 3 presets. Took me like 6 moths to get it but they are wonderful especially if you have analog 5.1 speaker set. I do not have a digital 5.1 speaker system so I do not know how the presets will sound on them. BUT KX IS AMAZING!!! How do I send them to you?

BUMP

There is a preset exchange site ---

http://my.kxproject.lugosoft.com/uploads.php

but it's been down for weeks and weeks and no one replies to my emails sent to those in charge to fix the upload problems.

It would be a GREAT help if it worked because then you could SEE the DSP setups instead of getting confused reading badly written explanations and/or wasting time sifting through TONS of old comments to never find a difinitive answer to a question.

"A good picture paints a thousand words!"

Kudos, though, to those who are still here and responding trying to help those looking for answers.

I think kX Project is in it's death throes as the Authors have left for other pastures and seem to have no time to bother with this project anymore.

... or so it seems ... please prove me wrong!

hmm ... I wonder... I've got 10 gigs of web space and 5 gigs bandwidth available on a freebie site that is REALLY stable ... "what if" I made a simple site, set up some sort of FTP thingy to allow people to exchange these DSPs and Soundfonts ... how many would participate?

Who would be interested in helping create a simple site THAT WORKS to exchage DSP's and soundfonts and the like?

Thankx
Dennis

Presets (i.e. The Preset Exchange) really will not solve all your problems. Like any custom DSP config, they are generally designed for some specific purpose and thus often need further modification to suit someone's specific needs (in some cases they may not even be the best config to use). Also, they generally do not contain any description of the DSP config itself (other than it's basic purpose), so for kX newbies, it often does not help in explaining anything (sometimes can cause more confusion). Additionally, many of them are model specific, or kX version specific (which is not indicated in most cases (many of the configs on that site are not compatible with recent versions of kX), which again can cause further confusion (as the config will not work (gives error, or maybe missing plugins, etc)).

Do not get me wrong, it was a good idea and can be useful in some cases, but it is not as great as you might think.

BTW: The site is up and running, but last I heard, preset uploading was broken (any posts related to this should be made in the appropriate thread).

Do not forget that you can use a free image hosting service to post DSP screen shots here in the forum, and if you include a description of what each of the plugins are used for, it would be that much more useful.

Agreed. There are so many possibilities with this amazing driver the task to get "newbies" up and running seems daunting.
But TALKING without illustration is sometimes more confusing.
The setup, driver version, card model number, etc. should all be posted with the illustration. If someone has another card that works different then maybe they can post their own DSP that does the same things.
I guess I'm just trying to get everyone on the same page and using the same method of explanation for their illustrations.
This would be a lot less confusing for those in the learning curve.

I was just thinking of a basic outline in pictures not words on how to set things up.
I STILL can't figure out what some of the terms and short-forms mean and what they are identifying.
So, picking and poking and trying new stuff gets horrible feedback screams out of my speakers, or low thunderous dead short humms, or absolutely nothing. All which leaves me very worried about damage to my components. And fearful of trying to get it working again.

Well, the site is up and limping ... not 100% at this time.
Posts have been made and promptly advised to take it to the authors ... who don't reply ... hence my suggestion to take matters into our own hands to help ourselves.

OK ... That is a good idea.
This might be the easiest solution. I will start doing that as I need some advice on a few things and maybe some hints and ideas too.

I thank you for taking the time to respond and hopefully we can clarify answers to questions and make them more understandable for those who are still searching for answers to questions in the learning curve.

Thankx,
Dennis

Until you understand more about the DSP, stick with epilog as your output plugin since it has volume controls, and keep the Master Volume low when trying new things and then it should not be so bad. Be careful with kxlt or epiloglt (which you should not need for anything), as they have no volume controls.
