Hello,
I'm getting very confused here!
I have read all the stickied posts but it still has'nt "clicked".
They HAVE made me think that I should be using the ProFX plugins as it does seem to be the confusion generated by looking at the DSP and the kxmixer that turns
my brains to mush (LOL!).
Using...
Creative Audio Labs Live Blaster Platinum 5.1.
1. Buzz with VST instruments. Buzz is a "machine"
based studio (various machine types are connected together). It has ASIO ability.
2. Mixvibes for mixing mp3's / sampler (has cue function for second sound card /channel).
3. Rebirth for 303 and drum machines.
4. Sequencer (Jazz) connected to external MIDI keyboard (pass through MIDI to Buzz,
Mixvibes, and Rebirth for synching and MIDI slider/knob control from keyboard).
5. Microphone connected to LiveDrive: I want to use this with the Kx Vocoder and one
of the VSTi Synths (to voice encode).
6. One frustrated musician.
I really want to use these drivers as I have a relatively slow system so want to pass
at least a few filters, etc over to the DSP chip on the soundcard.
I'm struggling though. Maybe this is because I'm used to the
Creative Audio Labs drivers. I'm beginning to appreciate the strength of THOSE drivers
...they were easy to setup! But of course they blocked you from most of the features.
I want to have a shot at writing a guide when I understand this as I think there are some nasty pitfalls for those coming from CL land :-(
Anyway....
What features / setup should I be looking at and learning in light of the above.
I've tried using the soundcard as two seperate channels (using one for cueing in the mixer
, for example) but keep getting sound leaking through. I fixed this by tweaking the
Surrounder, but still get a reverbed channel leaking in when I try and use cue in Mixvibes.
I'm not using soundfonts or midi effects (at the moment) so that could be dispensed with
in the DSP setup. I'm not using surround sound so could that part of the DSP be removed
, or is that needed to run the front / rear channel seperation ?
So...
A. What could I reduce the DSP window to for my setup ?
B. How do I setup the Vocoder to use an input from a VSTi synth, the LiveDrive Mic..
..AND be able to record the results. Does it just go to MME ?
