You just open "kX Automation" and all tweakable parameters are already there (for plugins that are currently loaded) - you just need to assign some midi msg to...

Err.. Max, I think he means how can he make an existing non-automated plugin parameter show up in the kX Automation window..

And the answer is: add a few lines of code and recompile the plugin (look at the SDK)..

/Hanz

p.s. kokoon, if you have one or two plugins in mind, they could maybe be updated with automation for the next release (maybe).

>does that cost any emu resources? - no it doesn't... but each automated parameter eats some x86 resources....

by "automated" you mean the one that has midi assigned to it. so it actualy wouldnt hurt if all parameters were "automatable"

MIDI Box

I'd just like to appologize for steering people away from the MIDIBox project some time ago.
I have just made a midi box with 4x20 LCD screen, 28 buttons & LEDs, 16 Knobs and 8 Sliders with no previous experience with PCBs!
It's only two thirds finished but what's finished works great.
Better still, I had my design laser cut and CHROME-PLATED so man it looks nice in my studio!

Anyway, once all these pots and faders are working, I'm gonna need alot of automation parameters to play with so bring'em on boys!

Anyone interested in such stuff check out http://www.ucapps.de I highly recommend it!

Piccys coming soon!

Speaking of automation...I'm dying to to use automation with filter cutoffs but currently staying away from it because of the damn issue of interpolation (or lack of) that makes the zipper noise when you move a fader too quickly
This would be one of the most useful and obvious uses of automation I could think off!
:-)

Pithcbender

Have you tried it with the pitch bender? The resolution is much better.
Of course we only have one pitch bender, so I vote for mix & max boxes in the auto window to rescale the controller msgs. (It's rare that you'd need the full range of the filter for sweeps so why waste resolution?)

You are right...you never need full the full range of the filter... but even in a short range and even still using the mouse to move the fader, I get soft clicks and not exactly a continuous sweep.
By the way, I've read somewhere else the same thing that you say, that by using pitch bend you can get a lot more midi resolution, but I must be doing something wrong because with my keyboard (admittedly a crappy one...no...worst yet...complete bullshit), while analyzing the midi output from the pitch bender with midi-ox, I found that it outputs the same range as any other controller (not the 16000.. or so steps that's supposed to do).
Go figure how smooth my pitch bending can be!

ok - here it goes.

i hereby request plugins "Stereo Decimator" and "Aps Fuzz" to become fully automated.

also, i'd like to know whats the situation with their parameters resolution. what defines their resolution? can it be altered?

thank you very much in advance.
