MoreBass plugin released
A plugin to amplify the bass. It's basically the same as BassBooster except I removed the HarmonicsGen code. It takes less registers and instructions and it probably sounds better since there is no distortion caused by the generation of the harmonics. I use it because it is more convenient than to use a lowpass filter, a gainHQ and a StereoMix.
Compiled by Russ for 3538l. Source code included. Link : MoreBass Also available on Russ's website. Last edited by Tril; Nov 13, 2006 at 02:52 AM. Reason: Compiled for 3538l. |

Great plugin.
All I need now is an amplifier to carry out that signal properly to my headphones. |

is there a way we can make a 'good' harmonics generator plugin? You said that the amplitude was distorted? would a negative gain (or posative) fix that issue?

I'm leaving this subject to others.
I'm not convinced that the harmonics trick works. I used a sound program before to generate harmonics of a low frequency signal and add them together. It did not give a good result at all. I decided that if I need more bass, I'll upgrade my amplifier and my speakers and I'll boost the bass in the usual way. |

well - at risk of flamage for resurecting such an old thread - I wanted to post an idea I had that worked well as a sort of low freq synth..
http://fileanchor.com/72000.jpg Basically - for MP3 and SPDIF in (cable TV 'Music Choice' channels) I split off - and mix in lows ran thru a stereo chorus. I do this all the time with midi bass guitar sounds in my projects to give em some punch. Not sure why I didnt think of this for the DSP earlier.. For Interesting effects play with: Chorus: delay and widths Mixy 4x2: in 5/6 level band pass: use freqs lowest -100 hz & Q lowest - 3 Hope someone finds this usefull. It's only six months old.
You made me notice that's it's not compiled for the latest version of the drivers (3538l). I'll recompile it for the latest version of the drivers and I'll give the code so that it can be recompiled by anyone in the future. |

I reinstalled Windows this summer after changing some of my hardware but I did not reinstall Visual Studio 6.0 and now I can't find the install disks. I could learn how to use the free method of compiling but I don't have the time to set it up for now so I'll share the code and I'll let others compile it for themselves or for everyone.
I added automation to the plugin. If it's useful for some people, I don't mind at all to send it to Eugene. |

Please make sure this plugin won't disappear :X It would be nice if Eugene would include it with the extra plugins usually included with the kX pack. And BTW, boosting the bass the usual way doesn't give such good results. You end up boosting 200-300Hz signals instead of 60-120Hz signals. I used this plugin both with headphones and with 3-way 100W RMS speakers with an amplifier. Amazing results. |

Is this an "ethnic" enhancement to your sound system in case you want to keep it real?

Well - it seems the OT plugin is lost (until someone recompiles the source trill was cool enough to share - but Im too dumb to compile :s) ... but If you give my idea I posted a try...let us know if its up to snuff for the ethnic stuff.
![]() (p.s.. Im not 'ethnic', but I *think* so) |

Sorry, I thought Tril was going to reinstall Visual Studio 6 to work on redocneXk anyway, (I just realized that redocneXk is compiled with a different version of Visual C++) otherwise I would have offered to re-compile it.
In any case, I recompiled it and added it to my site, (it includes the source code (with the workspace, which should make it easier for others to compile)). |

Thank you Russ.
What's an "ethnic enhancement to your sound system in case you want to keep it real"? I don't understand the meaning of that sentence at all. |

Could someone compile this to the newest version (x86)?
