DH Mobility Modder V3 released ! (64 bit support)

In the words of our beloved Patje

This program modifies certain files from the Catalyst driver set so you can install the latest catalyst set on your laptop.
With version 3, 64bit drivers are now supported, can I hear a "yay"? Be advised that you need the Microsoft .NET Framework in order to get CCC running.

Keeping the Modtool up-to-date is time-consuming job. The tool has been re-written. Due to many requests and to make my life easier, you no longer have to choose your card from the list. It's basically point and click, like a 3d shooter, but boring.

So I told you about 64bit already, the good thing about this tool is that it supports 64bit and 32bit. It will know what file you have used and make the necessary changes.

Ok back on topic, The list of supported cards in V3:

- ATI MOBILITY RADEON
- ATI MOBILITY RADEON 7500 / 7800GL
- ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9000
- ATI MOBILITY IGP 320M/340M/345M
- ATI MOBILITY IGP 7000 / 9000 / 9100
- ATI MOBILITY FIRE GL T2/T2e
- ATI MOBILITY FireGL V3100
- ATI MOBILITY FireGL V3200
- ATI MOBILITY FireGL V5000
- ATI MOBILITY FireGL V5000
- ATI MOBILITY FireGL V5100
- ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9500 / 9550
- ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9600/9700 Series
- ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9800
- ATI MOBILITY RADEON X200
- ATI MOBILITY RADEON X300
- ATI MOBILITY RADEON X600 / X600 SE
- ATI MOBILITY RADEON X700
- ATI MOBILITY RADEON X800 / X800 XT

get it here!

Hi all.

You have a naive on your hands ... in loading Catalyst 5.8 to a Dell Latitude 650, with the Mobility Radeon 7500 AGP card, I followed all Patje's instructions, and think it all worked.
However, how do I discover if it is loaded? All I seem to get that is different, is that the
Display Properties window says the display is "Digital Flat Panel... on ATI ... 7500".

Kind regards - Dellboy

Hi, well form your description I think it installed the driver.
Depending on what driver you downloaded, it should come wiht the old control panel or the new CCC (which requires .net framework)
While you are at the display settings, there should be an "avanced" button, at the same screen where you can choose your color depth and resolution.

In that advanced screen, you should be able to find what version is installed.

Please remove the mobility FireGL T2 from the supported cards list. This card is NOT supported! OpenGL just does not work when using this modder and that card.

felong, if u experience problems with games, you might want to update the drivers.
For general windows purpose, if it ain't broke, don't try to fix it.

VPN-user, U are right, the card should be removed from the list as OpenGL is not working and never will. The card is now officially supported in the yesterday released official 5.9's
For windows xp that is, not for win2k. I do however have the card in the list so people can at least install the driver and work with it, however without support.
But thanks for bringing this to my attention. appreciated

Hi Patje,

I just tried to e-mailyou but the mail was rejected with the following message:
<patje@driverhaeven.net>: Host or domain name not found. Name service error for
name=driverhaeven.net type=A: Host not found

So here comes the message:

Hi Patje,

I tried your modtool but my ASUS A4D laptop with a ATI mobility Radeon
9200 (32bit) isn't working.

The details of the hardware properties page are:

Hardware-id's:
PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_5C61&SUBSYS_17321043&REV_01
PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_5C61&SUBSYS_17321043
PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_5C61&CC_03000
PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_5C61&CC_0300

I hopeyou can use this information to upgrade your modtool.

With kind regards,

Dennis,

Do me a favor and try this:

Delete the C:\ati folder
Download the latest drivers (5.9 atm) and extract them to c:\ati...
Let the setup start. It might be possible that the drivers will not install and setup will quit.
now goto:
C:\ATI\SUPPORT\5-9_xp-2k_dd_ccc_wdm_enu_26409\Driver\2KXP_INF
double click the CX_26409.inf file and goto the following ling:

"MOBILITY / RADEON 9200/9250 Series" = ati2mtag_RV280, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_5C61&SUBSYS_0640174B

as you can see, the desktop drivers support this card, but for a certain comapany only.
at the end of that line, remove the part &SUBSYS_0640174B so the last part us ...5C61 then save the file and run the setup.exe from the C:\ATI\SUPPORT\5-9_xp-2k_dd_ccc_wdm_enu_26409 folder again.

It believe this should work.

Anyone else with a 9200 willing to help is more than welcome.

Hi Patje,
I've tried this modder with some older drivers (5.2 and 5.4) for drivers later than 5.5 will induce VPU error with the game EQ2. The modding is fine, but when installing the drivers, it asked me whereabouts of the non-existing "atioglx1.dll"... I have to manually delete the entry in INF files to install the driver. Just FYI, since I guess few ppl use old drivers now (hate this EQ2 issue!)

Patje, thank you. Thank you! Thank you. I just used the release tool on the Cat 5.9s in x64 and got my highest 3DMark '05 score yet. 2067. Not bad for a wimpy MR 9700. Haven't tried 32 bit XP and the 5.9s yet. Good work as always!

fax,

once you've edited the file, and you start the setup, does it give you an error?
if so, which one?
second, try installing the drivers by going to the device manager, select vid card, right click, update driver, point to C:\ati\balbalbalbla\driver\2KXP_INF

Let me know what happens ok?

Hi Patje,

I am not at the portable right now, the error was the usual one you get when your card is not recognised + another pop-up suggesting to start from a VGA driver, not remember now exactly...

I did try to update it via 'update' driver and it did actually work, but the end results was very poor. Poor quality, out of focus, etc..

Thanks,
Fax
P.S. Installing Omega drivers has resolved the issue

I am unsure of what to use, the Omega driver set or use the Catalyst driver with is mod. I am using a Dell XPS with a 256mb 9800 Radeon Graphics card. Which is better

p.s. When I install the new Omega driver, 2.6.71, I get a blue screen error saying that the ati2dvag got stuck in a infinite loop.

Edit: Just found out this happens when I install ATI tools. Is there a way to get this to work with ATI tools?

For your question, yes.
The modder is made to modify the catalyst and make it recognize mobile adapters. So of course you have to download the catalyst first and then use the modder on it.

Eques,

Welcome to DH,

It seems you are getting a "runtime" error (yeah I know a little german)
There are a few things you can try:

try this first:

Download the "Microsoft visual basic runtime library" and install it:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

if that don't help, reinstall windows scripting host.

If that doens't work... i don't know lol.
Hope that helps

Got the patch to work fine and Updated to 5.9 but....

Got the patch to work fine and Updated to 5.9 catalyst but....when I enter a game , and try to adjust the resolution, my screen starts to grey out with black dots appear everywhere, forcing to me shutdown. Is there something that is causing this? It happened with the new 5.9 catalyst as well as with the Omega drivers. This doesn't occus with my standard mobility drivers that came with the laptop. Help

I have a brand new HP 8110 with an ATI X600 mobility. Any help is much appreciated.

Hello,

I have a problem. When i use the Modder on the cat5.9 they install fine but upon rebooting I am limited to a max resolution of 1024x768. Checking the display adapter properties shows cat5.9 to be installed. Since the flat panel on my lap top is 1280x800 this is not an acceptable comprimise. Is there some way to force 1280x800? If I reinstall the original drivers the display works normally.

My only other thought was that is is possible that the flat panel driver 'gets lost' when the non-factory driver gets installed, and it no longer recognizes the displat properly.

If anyone has any ideas I'd be glad to hear them.

Thanks,

Phillip

Here is an addition to my aboce post:

I reinstalled the factory driver and again the display has gone back to its correct settings. I checked to see what driver it was using for the flat panel and it said no driver was installed and that one was not needed. This throws my flat panel driver theory out the window. My only guess is that the factory drivers are preset to know what resolution is standard and what other resolutions to allow. I just need to figure out how to tell the cat 5.9s the same thing. Any help would be appreciated,

Phillip

Hello Patje,

Just wanted to thank you. Mobility Modder 3 works great and so did the 2.x versions.
I own an acer2010 laptop with a 9700 with 1280x800 native resolution, and never
experienced any probs when modding the latest drivers.
As for 5.9... it's good i skipped the official mobility drivers and used your Modder on
the standard drivers. It allowed me to use the classic Control Panel instead of the
awful CCC !!!

Hey Patje,
I used DHMod v2 before with Catalyst 5.8 and it worked fine.

I recently reformatted my computer and tried DHMod v3 with Catalyst 5.9. There were no errors in installation. My screen resolution for my Dell Inspiron 6000 is correct though, the driver must have worked to some extent as it allows for the 1680x1050 res I need.

Problem is, though, I cannot find the CCC anywhere. There is no button for it (at the top of the menu) when i right click the desktop. There seems to be no sign of it installed when I go to display settings Advanced.

I then tried different combinations, using ATI's Cat uninstaller each time
Mod 3 / Cat 5.9 ccc
Mod 3 / Cat 5.9 cp
Mod 3 / Cat 5.8 cp
Mod 2 / Cat 5.9 cp
Mod 2 / Cat 5.9 ccc
Mod 2 / Cat 5.8 cp

None of that has helped... any ideas?
