OpenGL problem

Hi there,

My name's Mat I'm from Poland.

I've got Toshiba Satellite A75-S213 with ATI RADEON 9000 IGP. I bought it 3 moths ago and I got angry because many games are very slow. So I decided to use Patie's mod tool in order to improve this piece of junk.
I did all according to Patie's instruction. I tired 2 ATI Catalyst versions 5.8 abd 5.11. Unfortunately in both cases when I wanted to play in Call of Duty I obtained massage from Windows "Fatal error: Could not load OpenGL" and COD Console:
...calling CDS: ok
...created window@0,0 (640x480)
Initializing OpenGL driver
...getting DC: succeeded
...GLW_ChoosePFD( 32, 24, 8 )
...35 PFDs found
...GLW_ChoosePFD failed
...GLW_ChoosePFD( 32, 24, 0 )
...35 PFDs found
...GLW_ChoosePFD failed
...failed to find an appropriate PIXELFORMAT
...restoring display settings
...WARNING: could not set the given mode (3)
...shutting down QGL
...unloading OpenGL DLL
----- CL_Shutdown -----
RE_Shutdown( 1 )
-----------------------
Hunk_Clear: reset the hunk ok
Could not load OpenGL. Make sure that you have the latest drivers for your video card from the manufacturer's web site.

Could anybody help me? Please!!!

See you,
Mat

PS. Sorry guys for my English.

Sad DVD players won't work with Catalyst 5.11 + Radeon IGP 320M

Hello Patje.

I have a chronic problem with my ATI Radeon IGP 320M, when using ATI Catalyst versions above... 4.10.
Yeah I know that's a looong time ago, but 4.10 was the last version I got to work using your modtool, but since it was then not compatible with Catalyst 4.11 or 4.12, which were the last version at that time, I decided to stick with a working Catalyst 4.10.

Today, I've finally tried the latest ATI drivers (Catalyst 5.11, that is) and downloaded your latest modtool version 3.0.

The setup worked well, no "inf error", no apparent bug at all, so I thought : "Gee, now it works !"

Unfortunately for me, when I did the DVD playing test with PowerDVD after rebooting, only still images could display properly, whereas video files resulted in a full black screen.

I have to precise that I was already having the very SAME problem when I was trying Catalyst 4.11 and 4.12 (I think it it was during the time between the version 1 and 2 of you modtool, but not sure however).

Unfortunately, I have stayed quite some time not trying to follow the evolution of your modtool, so I don't know anymore which version of your modtool would work with which version of ATI Catalyst drivers...

Now my DVD players show black screens instead of video, no matter which player I use...

HELP ! Compaq Presario 2100, WinXP SP2, ATI Radeon IGP 320M.

Oh, I've read all the posts in this forum. Does my problem have anything to do with which version of Microsoft .NET Framework is installed on my computer ?

If so, I admit I have every Windows Update update, including Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Beta.

Thanks in advance to anyone who could help me... I'm really stuck in this DVD playback problem for a long time now.

Thinking twice about it, I don't think .NET Framework is the problem, since I've had this DVD playback problem a long time ago, and there was a different version of .NET Framework at that time.

Hey everyone,

Here's something I'd really like to know :

which catalyst versions does Patje's modtool version 2.2 support ? I already known the modtool version 3 begins with catalyst 5.9.

Since version 3 didn't work for me, I have to find out with which catalyst version my previous modtool (that is version 2.2) works.

Anybody knows where I can find this kind of information ?

Thanks in advance,

i have the 9700 and its native res. is 1280x800, when i tried to mod the drivers myself they don't support widescreen but awhile back you had posted a link to the drivers you modded yourself and they worked for my widescreen res. Is there something different you when you mod it to get the widescreen support?

Request: powercolor X550 support. Beleive it or not the product doesnt show on powercolor/Tul's website, and they only link to generic 32 bit drivers.

Running win XP x64, i get a thunk.exe error installing the standard drivers and everyones general advice has been to run your tool, and get it added into the INF file.

Basically thats all i want, is the ability to install x64 drivers for this bitch, and your tool seems the easiest way...

Hi, i used the mod on the latest x64 drivers, v5.12. It is working all right, as far as I can tell, but I cannot boot the ATi CCC. It starts, shows the black CCC intro screen and goes idle. I have the latest version of WindowsXP x64, including the .NET framework x64 2.0.

Does anyone has any experience with this?

Thank you in advance!

Hello,

I've installed the newest 5.12 using the Mobility Modder V3.
ATI doesn't release a control panel version anymore so I had to install the CCC.
But now I miss the Powerplay option?
Can you help me to find or activate it?

Best regards

Does anybody know if the next version will support Xpress 200M? This version does not, and the ATI IGP drivers don't work nor do the normal catalysts. Currently only the Omega Drivers and the drivers from the Toshiba website work.

Hi there,

has anyone tried the new 5.13 catalyst with the modder?
I have problems getting it working on a 1680*1050 display even after patching the inf-file by myself.
Mobility drivers still does not provide this resolution.
Thx in advance,

Sebastian

PS: Powerstrip is not working, because Windows is denying the resolution 1680x1050

HP Pavillion ze4365
AMD Athlon XP 2200
ATI Radeon IGP 320
Windows XP Pro SP2

I am having troubles installing the drivers after I mod them. I have tried with both the omega and standard issue ATI drivers but after applying the mod to them and attempting to install I get a dialog box titled Severe and the context including "Setup will only run in Administrator Mode. Setup is aborting." I am logged in as the administrator on my computer and have no programs blocking access or anything, so I'm not sure whats up. Really need to get new drivers on this laptop so a quick response would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Still no widescreen

Any news yet on getting 1280x800 to work? I've tried v3 and v3.1 with several versions of ATI's drivers and I'm having the same problems as several others getting stuck with 10x7. I even tried using powerstrip to change the resolution manually, but all it does is create scroll bars if I try to set the res higher than 10x7. If anyone knows how to manually change a .inf file, registry setting, or whatever to get my monitor back to widescreen I would really appreciate it.

Thanks

Hello Jqrizzle I don't think that the new radeon drivers do much for your card I have a 9000 too and I can't see any improvement with new drivers later then the 4.8 one.
The 5.0 and above give me only problems our card is simply to old.

Hi there, I have an IGP 345m, xp2, Compaq 2533AH. After I finished running the modder and it asked to proceed to install catalyst 6.1, I received this error msg:

"error installing ikernel.exe: (0x10000)"

Is this an installshield prob? Do I need to uninstall my OEM driver and use driver cleaner?

Any help is really appreciated. Thanks in advance.

can not start the tool

Hi there from Germany,

I have downloaded the mod tool, but it will not run. there is a msg, that it is not a proper windows32 application.

My main problem is the horrible performance of the ati radeon mobility 9700 card. Only when my children want to play games, the graphics collapse.

Thx

Try using the genuine ATI Mobile Catalyst Drivers (http://www.ati.com/online/mobilecatalyst/).
Works on mine (Amilo D 1840, 9600pro) since 4 or 5 releases.

Ray,

No, the modtool won't fix that problem. I tought the Thunk.exe was related to the .net framework. Do you have the .net framework installed?
Also the 6.2 driver came out yesterday, give em a try.

Hi There,

has anyone tested the 6.2 mobility yet?
Tried to install them and my notebook had graphic problems, desktop could not be seen, only lots of colorful pigments.
After installing the 6.1 again, everything was fine.
6.2 mobility seems to be disfunctional.

See you,

Sebastian
