I am having an issue similar to INSTG8R's. I sent an email but also thought I should probably post it as well.
Last night I was running a clean (in safe mode) on Drivers.cab and in the middle of the creation of the new file I got a BSOD with the stop code "IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL," which is a problem I've been having a lot lately. Now everytime I try to run a clean on Drivers.cab I get a BSOD about halfway through the cleaning process, this time with the stop code "MEMORY_MANAGEMENT." When I try to run Half-Life 2 (this is the only game I've tested so far) I get an error message when it starts to display 3D graphics saying it can't display the selected resolution and that it will switch to a safe resolution, then it restarts HL2 in windowed mode and gives the same error at the same point. Do you know of anyway I can repair the drivers.cab file and/or fix my problem? You can refer to my post on the Nvidia forums if it supplies you with any more information: http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=5877 |

titaniumradeon spysweeper is wrong. That file is from microsoft. It is part of the Visual Basic 6 Runtime Drivers. It is a file needed for programs that are written in Visual Basic 6. So you don't have to worry about that.
beano311 i mailed you back. If you have more questions you can mail me.
Redstone i think you should select both, but can you do a search for sp2.cab on your pc and tell me how much it finds and where.
[\QUOTE] I updated drivers before waiting for a response. Rolled the dice. Only ran the first sp2.cab choice and all is well. After reading your post, I did a search and only found the one sp2.cab. Thanks for getting back to me and sorry if this does not really help anyone else out. Great program btw

Hey dude, great App, however since this update (the older version never did this) whenever I do the whole shabbang (by that i mean cab cleab, sp clean and ati clean {I use all the ATI filters to be sure, as i do it on my machine too and no probs} and use DCP V1.2 on my bros machine it seems to delete a critical file that relates to the raid controller.
The problem that this creates is that when the PC boots it gets to the screen that tells you Windows didn't start proper and gives you the options about "Safe Mode" etc, but whatever you choose it just reboots again. The first time it happend I manged to find out that there some file/s missing that where for the HDD and since they weren't there it couldnt boots the HDD. I fixed the prob by repairing windows and reinstalling the controllers drivers and such. I did it this time by accident as I forgot that this happens after a clean with DCP V1.2. I am pretty sure I can fix it again, but my question is, why does this happen? Why does it delete a critical file for the RAID controller when all I have told it to do was Cab Cleaner, SP2 Cleaner, and all the ATI Filters? The setup my bro has is: AMD 64 3800+ (2.4GHz) CPU Seagate 200GB RAID HDD Seagate 80GB HDD X800XT PE 256MB GPU Gigabyte K8NSNXP - 939 MOBO 1 Gig RAM (Corsair I think, would check but I havent fixed the prob) If theres any more info you might need to fixing this prob just ask. Again, great app and keep it up.

Superpiccolo it is very simple to explain. The ATI IGP filters (3 filters) are only to be used when you have a motherboard with an ATI chipset and when you want to remove that. The ATI IGP also uses a silicon chip for the sata and raid, so when you selct that it deletes the drivers of that. I think your brothers motherboard also uses a silicon chip for the sata and raid. The best is not to use the ATI IGP ones. Also read the Filters page in the help file.
Somebody mailed me and also made the mistake by accident. He told me this: The fix for this problem is to boot from the Windows XP CD and enter the recovery console, then manually copy the files to the windows\system32 directory. Once the driver is in place, the system will boot normally with no data loss. Here is a list of the files that could be deleted. windows\system32\SilSupp.cpl windows\system32\Drivers\SI3112.mpd windows\system32\Drivers\SI3112r.mpd windows\system32\Drivers\SiISupp.vxd windows\system32\Drivers\SI3112.sys windows\system32\Drivers\SI3112r.sys windows\system32\Drivers\SiWinAcc.sys

Dude, Thx heaps.
I never knew that about the IGP, so from now on I won't do all the ATI filters. I already fixed the PC (as I am writing from it atm) but Thx for the info anyway man. Also I checked out your other little apps that you made (the ATI File Version, Shutondown, and PC Info) and they also rock. Thx for the quick reply and keep it up the kick ass work!

Hello Spike.
I run Win 98 SE and have a motherboard with built-in ATI Rage Pro Turbo AGP2X chipset--properties state "Chip type: Mach64: RagePro". I believe I need to update the video driver to stop all sorts of BSOD I have had, particularly since I updated my DirectX drivers, as recommended by Microsoft . I read this thread postings and see there either is or is not a problem with doing ATI ,or with the live update, or people are not following instructions, or they chose the wrong ATI filter. I installed 1.2 pro and it updated fine today, including ATI.dcf update, so I don't have a problem loading or updating your program. I looked at the help file for the list of filters, to see which one applies. There is a ATI Catalyst Driver + Control Panel ATI but I believe my driver is pre-catalyst? My "ATI desktop help" refers to the driver as "ATIEnhanced Drivers" with no mention of "Catalyst". There is a ATI Software Uninstall Utility ATI Uninstall Utility--is this the filter I should choose? Will you help me choose which filter to use for my needs? Is there any other recommendations you have? I notice you are very present on this board to help and advise--maybe you can help keep me out of trouble in advance ;-) . |

Spike, I like the program just fine but I do have one issue with it. Used it to clean out Nvidia display drivers on my XP SP2 system and it deleted a directory that I created to save all my Nvidia related drivers. The path was c:\drivers\nvidia. This folder had subdirectories also which were all deleted due to the parent directory being erased. Could you implement an option to let the user select whether or not he/she wants the c:\drivers\nvidia directory to be removed or must I label the directory differently so that DC Pro won't recognize it as being "nvidia" related and get rid of it?
Thx spike... good work by the way.

@plexdude if you name that directory like Nvidia2 or something else as long as it is not Nvidia. If you rename it you will be ok for the next time.
@beginningdriver you should select ATI, because i know i put things in there also for older chips. Also if it doesn't work and you can give me the drivers then i can make a cleaning file for it. @wilson23 so the whole page does not load? or only when you click download? There is a script that blocks people that try to download and don't have a refferer. So maybe you have some other program running that could block that? If nothing helps then send me a PM with your email and i will mail you the zip file.

I have a question about removing Driver Cleaner PE 1.2 registries completely after uninstalling. Which registries should I look for and where in RegEdit are they? I just don't want the Windows to pile up many registries of the same program especially when I've installed and uninstaled this many times.

The Driver Cleaner Uninstaller removes the registry items of the program so nothing stays behind.
