i think i messed up somewhere
Hey guys i just installed the programs and followed all the instructions, but when i boot into windows under safe mode i cant find the nvidia drivers under the device manager but i went ahead and ran the program anyway. When i restarted the computer there were a bunch of found new hardware wizards (apparently i deleted too much) and i reinstalled the chipset and the graphics drivers. So my question is did i delete too much or the wrong thing? because i did follow all the instructionsin the readme file

[color=DimGray]yesterday i set up my whole system new cause i got a new disk.
u installed the new driver from creative[/color] ([color=blue]Creative Sound Blaster Audigy unified series Beta driver with OpenAL support 2.08.0002) for my SOUNDBLASTER AUDIGY 2 VALUE CARD.[color=Silver] [/color][color=DimGray] i installed [/color][color=White][color=DimGray]also the new kx driver for winamp. After that i experienced sound problems in BF2 and skype, often the whole system hung up while playing BF2. I uninstalled the drivers like it's recommended in the readme.txt. after uninstalling these drivers i tried to install a different driver for my SOUNDCARD, but during the installation a error message poped up which said :[/color] [color=DimGray]"SETUP COULDN't FIND SOUNDBLASTER AUDIGY 2 SOUNDCARD ON YOUR SYSTEM... ..SETUP WILL NOW CLOSE" i tried a lot of old drivers fo the card but the error message still appeares, the only driver i am able to install, is the one which i first had installed.[/color] [color=Green] [/color] [color=PaleGreen][color=Green]-------------------------------------------------------- ---- Driver Cleaner Professional Edition 1.2 ---- 05-10-2005 -- 17:39:51 -------------------------------------------------------- - Creative Audio - kX Audio - kX Aureal File Deleted (H:\WINDOWS\system32\a3d.dll) File Deleted (H:\WINDOWS\system32\ctcoinst.dll) File Deleted (H:\WINDOWS\system32\ctdvinst.dll) File Deleted (H:\WINDOWS\system32\SBAudigy.ico) File Deleted (H:\WINDOWS\system32\Audigy.bmp) File Deleted (H:\WINDOWS\system32\default.ecw) File Deleted (H:\WINDOWS\system32\Drivers\ctdvda2k.sys) Registry Deleted (HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{6410C3A0-A732-11D3-9CFD-00A0C95949D5}) Registry Deleted (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Creative Tech) Registry Deleted (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Creative Tech) Registry Deleted (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\C reative Tech) Registry Deleted (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Enum\Root \LEGACY_CTAC32K) Registry Deleted (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Enum\Root \LEGACY_CTPRXY2K) Registry Deleted (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Enum\Root \LEGACY_CTSFM2K) Registry Deleted (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Enum\Root \LEGACY_HA10KX2K) Registry Deleted (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Enum\Root \LEGACY_OSSRV) Registry Deleted (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\ ctac32k) Registry Deleted (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\ ctdvda2k) Registry Deleted (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\ ctprxy2k) Registry Deleted (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\ ctsfm2k) Registry Deleted (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\ ossrv) Registry Deleted (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\ emupia) Registry Deleted (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Control\C reative Tech) Registry Deleted (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Enum\Root \LEGACY_CTAC32K) Registry Deleted (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Enum\Root \LEGACY_CTPRXY2K) Registry Deleted (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Enum\Root \LEGACY_CTSFM2K) Registry Deleted (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Enum\Root \LEGACY_HA10KX2K) Registry Deleted (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Enum\Root \LEGACY_OSSRV) Registry Deleted (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Services\ ctac32k) Registry Deleted (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Services\ ctaud2k) Registry Deleted (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Services\ ctdvda2k) Registry Deleted (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Services\ ctprxy2k) Registry Deleted (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Services\ ctsfm2k) Registry Deleted (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Services\ ha10kx2k) Registry Deleted (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Services\ hap16v2k) Registry Deleted (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Services\ ossrv) Registry Deleted (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Services\ emupia) Registry Deleted (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Services\ hap17v2k) Registry Deleted (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\ Root\LEGACY_CTAC32K) Registry Deleted (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\ Root\LEGACY_CTPRXY2K) Registry Deleted (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\ Root\LEGACY_CTSFM2K) Registry Deleted (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\ Root\LEGACY_HA10KX2K) Registry Deleted (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\ Root\LEGACY_OSSRV)[/color] [color=Red]thats what the log says someone a idea??? ![]() ![]() ![]() [/color][/color] [/color][/color] |

raynoldz125 i don't know what filters you selected, can you tell me that?
OpiO if i look at the log then there is not so much deleted that could cause this. The wierdest is that i hear it from only a few people and others don't have problems with it. I have to look into it deeper and see why it is causing it. I will search internet and see what i can find on the audigy installations. Try to install the driver you had and the install a newer driver over it, or uninstall it and then install the new driver and skip DC for 1 time. See if 1 of these things work.

OpiO normally you point to the inf file of the driver when you install through the device manager. Are you also sure it wasn't an update driver that you need to install over the old driver?

u are right, for sure i pointed to a inf file; and no it wasn't an update that i needed; i found a thread where someone uploaded all creative driver cds as an iso, they work fine...

OpiO, any chance you can link me that thread? I did just the same thing that you did, and amd currently hung up on one "ctcoinst.dll", which is not included on Creative's driver disc.
Lord how I hate Creative... |

Hello. I'm a bit upset.
I tried today to install a new set of drivers for my old PC - Win XP Pro, Nvidia Vanta/Vanta LT Following your instructions, this is how it went: 1. Unplug nic card or modem from net or disconnect OK, I disconnected. 2. Remove nvidia from add/remove programs Uninstall went without problems. 3. Reboot into safe mode (F8 during boot up) OK 4. On reboot into safe mode WinXP SP1/SP2 will auto detect and install drivers. Just let it do its thing. If you can cancel out of the auto install hardware wizard then skip the rest and run Driver Cleaner! If you can NOT cancel out of auto detect wizard then... I didn't try to cancel it, I let the wizard do its stuff. 5. Navigate to device manager->display adapters->highlight nVidia and click uninstall or remove but don't reboot I "unistalled" from device manager. 6. Disable any AntiVirus Software (If you don't disable is than it could give trouble) OK 7. Run Cab Cleaner (not needed, but recommended) I did, because it was recommended... It lasted around 8 minutes. It went OK by the looks of it. 8. Run Driver Cleaner I did, I chose "nvidia' from the filters, it was very fast, I didn't look at "details". 9. Empty recycle bin and reboot Nothing in my recycle bin... and I rebooted. 10. Install the new drivers Now this is where things get ugly. What you mention at point no.4, happens again, i.e. the New Hardware Wizard started again, before I get a chance to run the setup from the drivers pack I downloaded from NVIDIA. This time though, the Wizard gives me an error message, saying it didn't find any driver for my device. I re-run the Add Hardware wizard a few times, I tried letting it "automatically choose the best driver", or to point it at a specific location (the folder where the new driver was unpacked). No luck. In these conditions, if I run the Nvidia driver setup, it runs OK, it gives me the reboot now or later option, but after reboot my graphic card is still unistalled, it doesn't appear in the Device Manager, and in Display>Settings>Advanced>Adapter>Properties I have a "VgaSave". My monitor type also is "Default monitor" instead of "Compaq 1024". Please help me. Thank you. Last edited by oopsminded; Oct 15, 2005 at 12:25 PM. |

First download this file and unpack it. http://www.drivercleaner.net/dcprofix.zip
What you can try is goto normal windows and run Driver Cleaner and select nVidia. After that run the reg file from the zip file. Now reboot the system and try to install the drivers. What you also can try is reinstall the motherboard drivers.

oopsminded as far as i figured it out it is not cab cleaner. It is some combination of nvidia uninstaller and the nvidia filter in DC Pro. I am still trying to find out what exactly happens, but there are only like 1 in 60 or more people that have this problem. Maybe 1 in so many is not much, but i find it still to much. So i hope i can find out what happens.
Maybe you can help me a little. If you still have DC Pro installed can you send me the files in the LOG folder. Then i can see what is removed and if more people have it and send it, i can compare and that helps me.

Hi. I spoke to soon. I'm still in deep sh*t.
After the repair install, the hardware wizard recognized my nvidia card. I then installed the Nvidia 40.72 drivers, which I knew worked before the uninstall. I "tested" with a game I use to play and I thought everything was OK. Wrong. Tonight I tried to look at some video files. My WMP 10 was not even starting. I tried to uninstall it, that went bad (it finished with an error and a message to reboot). I rebooted, and when I tried to re-uninstall it, it said it's already uninstalled and if I want to remove it from the Add/Rem list. I did. I then tried, 5+ times, to reinstall WMP 10. It fails every time saying "failed to copy a file" without specifying it. I tried to reinstall DirectX 9, even though dxdiag says everything is fine, and that fails to, also saying something on the lines of "directx failed to copy a file". I looked in the event viewer and I saw that 2-3/second it registered an error, from source "nv". I then uninstalled that fro Add/Rem the Nvidia driver. Now I uninstalled an older version, 29.42, which made the error disappear from the event viewer. But still I can't install WMP 10. I will retry the directx 9 setup again. And now the log files: Code:

I dont know too much about this, but maybe try installing or reinstalling directx 9c. It looks like the error you are getting might be a direct X error, not a driver error.

oopsminded that dxerror log shows it is an dx error and not related to DC Pro. Maybe windows messed something up when you did that repair install. DC pro does not touch that inf file and also does not go into that DirectX folder. Maybe do a search on google, maybe someone also had that error and fixed it. If i find some solution i will tell you.

Spike,
I recently upgraded my brother's drivers, and I got the "Zero Display Service Error". I looked around, and i remember seeing that it was because of using an older version of DC. Another problem was that any solution i found to the problem involved reformatting. What seems to have happened, is that when you uninstall the display driver, it should revert to a standard vga adapter (windows drivers). DC seems to have deleted those. When i go to display properties i get "def monitor on 'blank'". I have remedied this by when it says found new hardware to point it to where the newest drivers are extracted (c:\ ATI). Then just install the cp. But no matter what, the standard vga adapter drivers that came with windows are gone. Did you ever find a fix for this? Users report upgrading to SP2 fixed it, but he already has SP2. Appreciate your work and effort Ben

ok, i found a way to get windows to let me reinstall the drivers, i had to crash windows, twice on purpose, which can cause damage to files, but at that point i didn't care...but i upgraded to sp2, then crashed windows twice...each time selecting recent settings...after the second time...it reverted everything back to about 5 weeks ago, cept software...just registry and time settings...and it asked where the drivers for the codec were at/

Devil_Bane can you do a registry check for me. In the log files can you check what of the registry was deleted and then export those keys for me? then i can inspect it and see what i can do to fix it from happening again. send it to info@drivercleaner.net it would really help me.

DC3Setup_33 installed file size
Subj:CleanerDate:11/2/2005 7:42:14 PM Eastern Standard TimeFrom:LyenniorTo:ZpyenniorSomeone recommended that I use a Video Driver Cleaner to take care of a problem I was having. I downloaded and installed your DC3Setup_33.zip and installed and ran it.
It worked great -- and even fixed a problem that no one knew what was causing it or how to fix it. I do have one question. The unzipped file size of DC3Setup_33.zip is about 1.5 MB. However, in Add or Remove Programs, it shows Driver Cleaner 3 as being 105 MB. How can this be? |

That is wierd, because it should be like 3 or 4 mb when installed. But it is possible that windows check the space when you open add/remove. If you have the backup options enabled then files and registry keys that are deleted will be backuped in the DC folder so maybe add/remove counts that also then.
Glad to hear that it fixed your problems.

I'm having a, oh, slight problem here. I downloaded and installed DriverCleanerPro from here. I followed all of the instructions for NVidia driver removal and cleaning.
After running driver cleaner and rebooting, nothing. My screen is blank, machine shuts down shortly thereafter. Any ideas why and how to fix this short of reinstalling my entire OS (Windows XP Pro SP2)? This is not good as I'm hot and heavy in the middle of crucial development. With no way to even boot, I can't do anything. Yes, this is urgent. Thank you, ETA: Well, after letting the system sit for a few minutes, it appears to have restarted (with some Windows boot-mode complaints). Hmmm. The entire reason for using DriverCleaner was to see if a 'clean' reinstall of the Forceware 81.85 drivers would remove a problem with OpenGL. Any application using OpenGL seems to be pegging the CPU Usage meter(s) at 50% or greater. This on a Dual Xeon with HT enabled (and 3GB memory). This is the first time that I've had this ever. Don't know... Last edited by kuroyume0161; Nov 7, 2005 at 08:21 PM. |

But does your system boot to windows now? Also have you tried going to safe mode and then to be sure reinstall the chipste drivers and after that the display drivers.

Hey I had a problem figued I'd say something.... it been a long time
since I've used your tool... used your tool to remove the drivers from a board with nforce 220 IGP I then install an ATI card wich didn't agree with the system so I ran driver cleaner removed the ATI drivers window file protection poped up saying a file had been removed for windows to operate properly. (I should of put the CD in ) but for some reason I cancled. shut the system down and yanked the ati card and no mater what I did the NV video always showed under the "unkown devices" and when the driver was loaded windows always loaded with a black screen. I could get in under safe mode only... SFC / scan now didn't fix it either it took a windows repair install and all is well know. I remember you used to have a "nvidia fix" but didn't see that any more... just figured I'd mention it...

Hi!
I found a file that driver cleaner didn't remove: wpfb_nv4_disp.dll. This has to do with nvidia drivers couse It was there again after I deleted it and installed the new drivers. I noticed this file becouse I had problems with it. There's also a file called wpfb.dll but I'm not sure it has to do with nvidia. thanks! |
