Your Xp Tweak Tool Killed My Radeon!!!

I just installed and tried this stupid tool, only doing a few of the recomended tweeks from a review of this tool posted on another site and now my desktop settings are stuck at 640X480 and 4 bit color, WTF did this thing do to my computer? I try and change the settings, it says they are changed but then it just reverts back to 640x480 4 bit. I have a radeon 9800, I've never had any problems at all with it till I rebooted after using this tool, could it be the fast boot tweak that messed it up?

I'm friggen pissed, I've allways been leary of tools like this, but your reputation with radeon tweaks led me to believe this was safe.

So, what do you think the problem is?

I've tried rebooting, and resetting several times and it just won't change back. I've also uninstall the tool, and tried system restore to a save point from yesterday, still nothing.

could be just a problem with your vga driver, try uninstalling it and removing it with drivercleaner (you can find it on the frontpage and make sure to exactly follow the readme!) then try to either reinstall the driver or a newer one like the new Omega that was released today.

OK, I'm a little calmer now, so I apologize for the rant.

I haven't done anything else since last night, it's still screwed, but I had considered reinstalling the driver for my radeon. also I did a registry back-up a week ago maybe I'll try that.

The tool I'm talking about is TuneXP.

It didn't mess up your card... Just reformat or something.

That's life answer to everything.

I'm an ATi user and TuneXP didn't do anything negative to my system at all.

First off, welcome to the site, Turbid.

Your problem can be resolved. There seems to be a myth that software can destroy hardware, this isn't the case.

I would suggest that you uninstall you card's drivers and run DriverCleaner to get rid of anything that may of been left behind. Make sure you follow its supplied, detailed instructions. After that reinstall your display drivers, I run suggest you use the most recent ones.

Everything should be fine after that.

What it did was screw up the drivers somehow, a driver cleaning and reinstall fixed it. And an HD re-format + OS + Required programs re-intall was a very bad option , I have a buttload of homework do for my calculus and C++ class to do this weekend, and considering that reinstalling Visual Basic.net takes a friggen hour just on it's own, I would have lost quite a bit of time.

Sorry the thread was so negative, it was 2 am here when I posted and I just wanted to go to sleep, not spend hours trying to fix what 4 or 5 clicks with this tweaker tool screwed up.

I'm not sure what in the program could have messed things up, but it might be something to look at for the developers.

im glad you got it going, seems that somewhere the drivers mustve got mixed up on 1 of the tweaks which can happen from time to time, dont even need a tweaking program (as it happened to me 2 days ago).
