This is great! A lot easier than going thru the registry
. Easy interface also. NICE!!!By the way, what does the "speed-up windows irq handling" do?

Excellent release, d-force! Much obliged!
Ev!L-aLphA, for now you can edit C:\Program Files\DH TuneXP\TuneXP.conf to fix your mistake. iplaycs, from the documentation: Quote:

Just downloaded this sweet program.....before I try it out, I wanted to know if I had to reboot after enabling/disabling each tweak? Or can I just apply them all
and THEN reboot my computer......

Thanks for the nice tool. I just have 1 question. What is the recommended size that the IO Page Lock Limit should be set to with 1GB of RAM?
It's default is 64mb, I set it to 256mb....

Appreciate the effort and excellence you've given to the program!
One question though, do you have a recommended uninstall routine (I have the beta 2 and want to install the final version now) as I don't notice an uninstaller - or have I missed something?

The old betas had no uninstaller, nothing is written to the system. The final has an uninstaller, tho.

Thanks for a great program D-Force. After have done all the tweaks my computer feels a bit faster specially boot times, it was rather fast before thanks to the Raptor but now it's even faster, about 13-20 sec to boot. Now when ever I restart or turn off the computer there is alway this program called ccApp that does'nt close itself, I never had that message before, do you now what it could be??

It's because that particular service might now shut down in the time frame, the "Faster shutdown" tweak gives. It's nothing serious, but if it annoys you, disable the tweak.

Ultra-fast booting shouldn't be ran that often, defrag boot files maybe once a week

I installed the final version today- really cool program. I just noticed that it's missing the windows services shortcut though, I though that was pretty cool- is there a reason you took it out or did it conflict w/ something? Or something?

Hey,
When defraging using the super special option thing you should ask the user if they wish to defrag or not? Yes, no? Cause I did it just to see what it was and then I noticed it started defraing and now I'm having to wait for it to finsh which will probally be tommorow. Or Thursday if it does all drives?Even worst I hate that method as there is no info on screen about what its doing and how long its been or will take, etc. Since I cant stop or reboot untill its finished? Oh and what do i open the readme doc. with? Cause when I click it in the start menu it checks microsoft or asks what program to open with? |

I waited to install TuneXP until the final version came out. It seems to work pretty well. I do boot up and shut down faster. Other than that though, I haven't really noticed much of a difference, but I run a pretty minimalistic setup anyway. Nothing seems to have messed up in my system, so I say TuneXP is a success.
Nice tool D-Force. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for this great program! One question though, what settings do I have to change in the Registry Editor if I want to apply these tweaks manually? Any websites? I'm particularly interested in "Speed-up Windows IRQ Handling". Thanks in advance

Sorry to be harsh to whoever spent time creating this program, but its no better than the millions of others out there claiming to speed up XP.
I installed it yesterday, my system was clean, having formatted it the previous week, ran most of its things (IRQ, boot spedup etc) and rebooted. On restart I not only find almost ALL my IRQ's busted, but that upon trying to sort it out in device manager it locks up. The graphics drivers would not uninstall without it locking, the trying to install them over the top created the same result. I undid all the changes and uninstalled hoping it my rectify the problem, no luck. it gave my Radeon that of so wonderful code 10 unable to start error, and gave my network card, sound card and fireware card the same problem. I have now had to format AGAIN, which I did not want to spend my afternoon doing. It has been said before, and i'll say it again, never bother installing anything that messes with the root of your system, as it will inevitably f**k up. I am just dissapointed as it is supported by driverheaven, which is a site I trust and visit daily. |

Reply to Montaver:
I am sincerely sorry that you experience problems with the usage of TuneXP, but it is impossible that it, in any way, can make hardware devices go unfunctional, since the program does in no way affect system hardware directly. By undoing the changes, you undo ANYTHING the program has done to the system, the changes will be gone and your system will be as plain vanilla as before. Unless you installed a 3rd party program in the meantime, your system hardware has got a defect somewhere. There might be one possible, though. You might not have followed the instructions properly. Setting IO Page Lock Limit to 512MB setting, if you have 128MB will most likely render Windows unbootable and inoperatable, because it would allocate more physical memory than it has. The program has run in beta cycles, both publically and non-publically, and no behavior of that kind has been reported at all. However, if you posted your system specifications, i'm sure we would be able to find out why it happened, if it is really the only thing you have done. ![]() And i still have to point out that these tweaks (for most of them) make the process easier. The IRQ tweak that you seem to frown upon is a simple registry tweak, which is undone when you disable it. Reply to syko86: The tweaks can be found on most common tweaking sites ![]() Reply to Danhill: You don't nessecarily have to run ultra-fast boot often

The IO page locklimit was one of the few tweaks I did not apply for that very reason :P
