Here is new release of Driver Cleaner. There are fixes and improvements in this version.
Below you find a list of the things that are changed since 2.7:

Improved:
- Readme steps
- ATI cleaning file
- ATI WDM cleaning file
- ATI MMC cleaning file
- nVidia cleaning file
- Creative Audio cleaning file
- Code optimized (Changed a lot)

Fixed:
- Bugs in code
- Small bug in the Wizard
- Small bug in dropdown boxes
- Black around buttons with windows themes

Added:
- Log Viewer (View the log files created with the log option)
- The option to make a full registry backup when the cleaning starts
- Cleaning Options (Select if it cleans Files, Registry, Directories or all)
- Creative Audio Lite cleaning file beta (Cleans only the driver)
- Language files (Chinese, Danish, Hungarian, Portuguese, Russian)

Updated:
- Language files (English, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Polish, Spanish)

Read the Readme.

IMPORTANT: uninstall the older version first before you install this version.

For uninstalling nVidia drivers i recommend putting the backup functions on and the full registry backup on. If something goes wrong you can restore it. Also if you get an error with installing new drivers, please send me the directories in the backup folder, so i can check and locate the problem than. Or mail me if you want to ask more how to send it, but don't use the restore before you sended it.

It is for nVidia, ATI, Creative, Turtle Beach, SIS Graphics and 3Dfx. It will remove anything that is left by the drivers after uninstall.

Hey Spike!

Thanks a lot for a great app! I love it!

I do have two questions...

1. I use ATI Catalyst for my 9700 card and also a ATI Remote Wonder Remote with drivers installed. When I want to upgrade my Catalyst Drivers and use Driver Cleaner to clen things up it also destroys my Remote Wonder software. Anyway to prevent this?

2. Is there a function to clean ALL including .cab files?

Xophile if you mean the drivers of that remote wonder, it is not possible that the drivers of the Remore Wonder are not getting removed. Sorry. If you mean like programs than please tell me the names and where they are installed than i can look into that.

For point 2: I didn't include such an option, because you only need to clean the cab files 1 time. So when you run Cab Cleaner you clean the cab files 1 at a time and than you don't need to run it again, because windows will not put files back in there.

When I try to uninstall "ATi Radeon Catalyst 4.2" or install "ATi Catalyst 4.3" or even "Omega 2.5.30", I get an error-message.

"ERROR: 0x80040707"
"ISLAYER.DLL NOT LOADED INTO MEMORY"

I know now that it's the "ATi Control Panel" that's causing all this trouble that a lot of other people have.
It doesn't like to be uninstalled.
When I get home I'll try your new "Driver Cleaner 3.0" and see if it works.
I'll fill you in the minute it works.

Ok i hope it works. I read about that problem also at some places. I know it is not caused by Driver Cleaner. I think is caused by some conflict with windows and the installer of the control panel.

I used DC3.0's Cab Cleaner to clean my driver.cab and sp1.cab files.

Though for some reason, I just tried to defragment my C: drive and it listed driver.cab having 2000+ fragments but was unable to defragment it.

Would this cause any problems with my system? And is there anyway to defrag the file?

It will not cause any problems with the system. But what you can do is if you have another drive. Move the driver.cab to there. Than defragment the C: and than move the driver.cab back to the C: and where it is so like C:\Windows\Driver Cache\i386\. Than it should be ok and you can defragment it.

Once you run cab cleaner once, is it ever helpful to run it again the next time you clean your driver files? I'm guessing that those cab files don't get updated regularly (perhaps only through service packs) so you wouldn't have to do it every time you clean your drivers out. Is that right?

cab files don't get updated, so after 1 time you don't need to run it again.

Seems like a lot. Maybe there should be a cut of point. Damn I will have to check my older computer. Cant imagine how much the backup took on it.

Glad there is the backup cleaner but still man should not be using that much space. Or at least warn the user or something.

Also, can you please add an option to hide the splash screen?

Also, what is happening to the nvidea fix program? Not included in 3.0?

@ war59312 the option to remove the splash screen will be added in the next version. Also in the new version you can see the size of the backup folder in the options menu.

All right cool. Thanks man. Oh it wokred for me a few times. Registry part anyways. Never had to use the other options. But ok.

And about the backup thing. Man I just checked my old computer and its backup folder is 23gb. lol That computer was a pain in the ass to try and get the best driver for it. Its four years old and had major problems but finally got it to work after using cab cleaner so thaks a ton for that.

So there needs to be some sort of cut off. Like in options not just displays the amnout of backup but ow about set the amount of backups or the max size of backups or something. Like system restore.

Can you tell me when it worked by you what drivers did you uninstall and what os do you have and what chipset?

Damn I dont remember the drivers. I know two were nvida drivers and one was ASUS.

But i used it when running winxp pro. sp1. Have not used it since and now using sp2.

And chipset is ASUSTeK Computer Inc Vt8377 Apollo KT400/A/600 CPU to PCI Bridge.

What updates should be installed to run Driver Cleaner 3.0 on the very first Win95 (not even OSR2)? I'v installed "OLE update" and "Library Update", but now it says it can't find Enum*something* in user32.dll

nVFix worked for me when I had uninstalled driver 43.45, to upgrade to 56.55/56 (don't remember), full removal of registry keys for NV. chipset in sig.
