Nvidia modder - need help

Hello

So I have an old Sony vgn-fs660 model laptop. The video card is an Nvidia Ge Force Go 660, so as many of you probably know - I'm screwed re: drivers (the last provided card driver update was from the same year I bought the laptop - 2005!) Hence why im so excited to have found this nvidia modder. However, I don't seem to be having much luck with it. I assume this is because it is 1am and i'm stubbornly trying to stay awake to fix this problem that would be simple at any other hour. Anyway, I shall explain what I did and beg + plead for your gracious assistance!

First of all, I checked & compatibility is go. Likewise I have the newest Net Framework (3.5) installed. I downloaded the Nvidia desktop driver found here and saved to desktop. Then I downloaded and installed the nvidia modder program. I extracted the driver...but, as instructed, did not install (it wouldn't let me anyway). Then I went to C:/NVIDIA/190.62 and i THOUGHT i modified the file re: the given instructions. However, after restart -- installed driver is still listed as the old 2005 version. When I try to run setup on the driver, it tells me there is still an incompatibility. I'm at a loss.... I'm afraid I must have screwed up some step alone the way. Suggestions very welcome!

And apologies if my explanation is unclear, I truly am exhausted. Anyway, i look forward to any advice.
