MM failure with Win 7 and Compaq R3410

Downloaded and installed MM program and latest x86 drivers. Following instructions worked flawlessly. Install using modified setup seemed to work (didn't see any warnings). After reboot, Dev Mgr reported that Std VGA was installed instead of Nvidia. Manually replacing the modified Nvidia driver was rejected due to being incompatible with current version of Windows.

GFX hardware on the laptop is GeForece 4 420 Go. I don't care about Aero peek, but I would like to have dual monitors.

Any suggestions?
