Anyone having this crazy OpenGL problem with their Mobility Radeon HD 4650?

Hi folks, I'm Jim - obviously new to the forum.

For the last 6 hours or so I've been tearing my hairs our trying to figure out this Mobility Radeon HD 4650 OpenGL issue - as you can suspect, I have a Toshiba laptop that I wiped Vista from and installed XP SP3. I am starting to really regret that decision, but I despise Vista.

I am a lighting designer, and I use a program called WYSIWYG for my design work. WYG uses OpenGL to render realtime lighting, but for some reason OpenGL isn't detected by the program, and the most important function of the software won't work. I used the DH Modder to modify the Catalyst driver, and relevant version info is below. I just don't know what else to do - I'm certainly not an inexperienced user, but is there a way to manually restart OpenGL? Is this even the issue? It seems as though OpenGL is either failing to work altogether, or something is conflicting with it.

Any help on this scenario would be so unbelievably appreciated, as I am at my wit's end, and I need to get this to work pretty badly. I'm leaving for Sweden in four days for a year of grad school, and this program is essential.

Thanks everyone, I appreciate your time!
Jim

For posterity, I'm on a Toshiba Satellite P305-S8919, running XPSP3.

Close all application that might use OpenGL and apply this registry patch:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\OpenGLDrivers\ati2dvag]
"Dll"="atioglxx.dll"
