Should I get catalyst 9.3 or 9.7?

Hey my laptop works apparently really inefficiently with my video card, and thus overheats often. Well when I uninstalled my old drivers to get modtooled ones, my laptop started freezing all the time.

So as a fix, I need the most stable and the newest catalyst, i hear people having problems with 9.7, and even 9.2, what should I get? If I need to get older ones, where should I dl them? I don't think I can get them from ATI.

Btw I have a radeon hd 2600, ty before hand!

I have a HD2600, and I never had heating or any other kind of problems!

I doubt the problem with your over heating being with the catalyst version. Make sure it is clean of dust in there.

laptop GPUs have very short lives if the laptop isnt maintained properly. i even had to order a new one for my dads laptop because he uses it constantly and never cleans it... lines started appearing on the screen due to memory problems and/or GPU problems

lol... so which catalyst version? I never said the problem was with the drivers themselves, but for my case they seriously contribute to the problem. I was hoping for more straightforward answers...

a little more on my case then:

Older games ran for several hours before freezing and newer games would freeze within seconds, and someone else having the problem said he mod tooled the latest drivers and the problem was gone, so I uninstalled my drivers, and my computer started freezing every 10 minutes... coincidence?

And yeah there was a big gap between me uninstalling the drivers and me currently trying to get new drivers, I made a lot of questionable tech decisions and bricked the computer, sent it to some guy at my parent's work and he said the freezing was a motherboard problem, but he got it working to how it was before I bricked it, which means if I get my old drivers back, I would atleast be able to use Word and play old games occasionally, and if I put on new drivers, the laptop might work normally!

id install the Ati driver without CCC..... usually eliminates freezing problems for me.....

get the 9.7

the issues probably will come back but you can try it if you want.......

if i were you id just use application settings and play games like that, less issues to work out
