ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3670 - Issue with Empire:Total War

Hi all,

i'm experiencing issues with the above game as i can't seem to get it to start up, any assistance would be really appreciated as i'm a bit of a noob

I had the latest Dell driver for my XPS1640 (dated 12-May-2009 so fairly recent)

I couldn't get the game to work and with not much help from Sega support have come across this site...

So i set about using the modder tool from this site on 8-12_vista32_dd_ccc_wdm_enu_72275 which seemed like the correct file but i could be wrong? anyway, the mod tool seemd to work without any hitches but i still experience the same issue when trying to run the game.

I have a Studio 1640, and it seems to work fine for me. You're running it through steam I gather? Have you tryed compatibility settings? I am running the x64 OS on my system though, but steam works fine no problems.

yeah, i'm running it through steam. i haven't tried compatibility settings though, not entirely sure what they are?
and running Vista 32bit so that could be the issue maybe?
which driver are you using for your ATI card?

I'm using the latest one off dell's website based on cat 9.5 I believe.

I am running it through steam as well, works fine.

Have you tried other possibilites? I know its a pain but try to reinstall it maybe? or check to see if it launched with "safe mode networking" then you know its some form of software conflict, either a driver, software that starting up with your computer, etc.

Also Have you downloaded the latest DirectX 9 recently?
I know Vista comes with 10, but some games just want it installed whether you have Vista or not.
