Mobility Radeon 4000 series

Hello,
Just wanted to assure people working on ATI Mobility Modder that there is a lot of people waiting on 4000 series release. I'm particularly interested in 4330. How is the work going? When can we expect it to be released?

Re: Mobility Radeon 4000 series

SAME HERE! I signed up just to ask this question but looks like someone is ahead of me... NVM that, but when will Driver modder OFFICIALLY support 4K series like 4570... Coz I'm recommending a friend a Dell Studio lappy with ATI HD 4570..
Link: Dell Studio Laptop 15 Details

Wondering whether the official ATI drivers will work... If that will not work, luckily I've heard about driver modder... But sadly it doesn't officially state support for HD 4K+ since driver modder breaks the 'signed' stuff, will driver modder work on 64 bit?

Re: Mobility Radeon 4000 series

until then you can try modifying the drivers manually

eg. Catalyst 9.3 w/ Mobility Modder?

just add the corresponding data of your mobility cards found here Catalyst? PC VENDOR ID (1002) LIST

Re: Mobility Radeon 4000 series

I'd also be interested. There seems to be more to it than simply adding your own entry so that it's recognised, like knowing which "ati2mtag" to use... Hence i'd like the mobility 4570 supported by Mobility modder

..in fact you dont modify the driver itself (eg. ati2mtag etc.), but the installation files (.inf files mainly), since driver version 9.6 is driver version 9.6, theres no difference, for neither card, only the OS makes "different" driver versions necessary. you only make the driver installation "compatible" with your card, since it isnt ex-works, mainly because of the notebook manufacturers - theres actually no blame at all against ATI..

btw. i achieve some 10-20% performance increase in 3dmark when manually modifying the driver instead of using MM, but thats my experience, i dont wanna make anybody turn away from MM..

sure, you can still use ccc 9.3 or any other than the most recent one and wait for MM to support your rv700 card, but i recommend everyone to give it a try and also learn a bit about the drivers and his gfx by doing this..

Re: Mobility Radeon 4000 series

I can't find id number for Mobility Radeon 4330! Could I use some other? Would it cause any issues?

EDIT:
I run this program and it tells its 0x9552. Ill use 9552 and see what happens.

Re: Mobility Radeon 4000 series

oh sorry, they seem to have removed the mobility cards - no idea why. earlier there were all the ati cards listed, from the newest ones, over the mobility, firegl cards etc. back to the rage and the other legacy ones.

obviously now only those supported by the 9.6 drivers are listed..

if it says 9552 you can trust it.

Thanks Spike. I'd feel much happier installing it with official support rather than modding it myself

Re: Mobility Radeon 4000 series

@ Spike

i would be very interested in the details (ie. each step the MM does) of the modifications performed by MM. ive been using MM for several months until the post-9.2-issues occured. since then im modifying the drivers by myself using the above mentioned method.

is there any difference resp. does MM do more than just that modification (ie. making the desktop driver compatible with the mobility card by adding the device id into the .inf file)?

the reason is that i read lots of postings on other forums telling that they get significant performance increases when using the manual method compared to using MM. at least when doing it on my notebook (hp 8510p, mobility hd2600).

i checked the differences myself and also noticed some 0-300 3dmarks/pcmarks (but rather randomly) more when using the manual modification. but i am not sure whether thats a real performace increase or just "luck", or only noticeable on synthetic benchmarks.

so does MM do "more" than this manual method?

would also be interesting to check the new win7 mobility drivers regarding differences compared to the desktop drivers.

thanks

Re: Mobility Radeon 4000 series

Hello!
this is my firs experience with Radeon cards)))
i hve ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570 card and WinXP-sp3
i tried to modify 8-12_xp32_dd_ccc_wdm_enu_72271 driver with mobility modder but installer says it is not compatible with my card...

i tried DeviceID but it doesn't work in WinXP... looks like my ID is one of this:
Catalyst? PC VENDOR ID (1002) LIST
http://developer.amd.com/gpu_assets/...IDs_Jan_09.txt

{“ ATI MOBILITY RADEON HD 4500 Series ,M92 ,9553 “}
{“ ATI MOBILITY RADEON HD 4500 Series ,M92 ,9553 “}
{“ ATI MOBILITY RADEON HD 4500 Series ,M92 ,9553 “}
{“ ATI MOBILITY RADEON HD 4500 Series ,M92 ,9553 “}
{“ ATI Radeon HD 4570 ,RV630, 9598“}

there are two *.inf files:
CX_72271.inf
atirt2xp.inf

i found this strings in the first one:

"ATI Radeon HD 4570" = ati2mtag_RV630, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9598&SUBSYS_30011043

...

"ATI Radeon HD 4570 " = ati2mtag_RV630, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9598&SUBSYS_3031148C

...

"ATI Radeon HD 4570 " = ati2mtag_RV630, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9598&SUBSYS_4570174B

...

"ATI Radeon HD 4570 " = ati2mtag_RV630, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9598&SUBSYS_301017AF

but there is no word "mobility"... should i edit this strings ?

what should i do next? i'm noob in all this staff plz help!!!!

Re: Mobility Radeon 4000 series

ok... finally i managed to install drivers for my ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570 card on WinXP-sp3 (1366x768x32)

here what i did:
1) unpacked 9-7_xp32_dd_ccc_wdm_enu driver (i think, no matter if it is 8-12 driver or any other)
2) pathched it with mobility modder.
i'm not sure that it was necessary, i checked C:\ATI\SUPPORT\8-12_xp32_dd_ccc_wdm_enu_72271\Driver\Driver\XP_INF\ CX_72271.inf
before and after patching - it is the same!
3) now go to "device manager" -> VGA adaptor properties -> driver -> update driver -> not this time -> install from list -> don't search -> select file
C:\ATI\SUPPORT\8-12_xp32_dd_ccc_wdm_enu_72271\Driver\Driver\XP_INF\ CX_72271.inf
then find your card in the list. there are 4 drivers for my card in this list, i selected first one.
4) install, reboot.

that's it!

now you can install CCC and WDM. i think patching with mobility modder is important for these two.

thx!

Yeah... go Spike go! I'm sitting here with my Dell Studio 15, which is lovely except that they don't keep up with drivers for the Radeon Mobility 4570 in there.

I've tried hand-modifying the driver about a hundred times and can't seem to get it to work, so I'm desperate for a new Mobility Modder.

I'm in the same exact boat as you man. Just got my Dell Studio 1555 with Radeon Mobility 4570 about 3 days ago and have tried to modify the inf files about a million times now. Searching all over Google, DriverHeaven etc.. but no use . Btw how is the studio going for you? I love mine. The screen quality and resolution just blows me away with the full hd. So crisp and clear and luminescent
