Need help installing new driver using mobility modder

I have a ATI 3400 on my Lenovo thinkpad and want to update the driver to a 9.2 from the 8.52. I downloaded the 9.2 disabled the UAC, modded the driver after it was extracted then tried installing the new driver. When i do that Catalyst installes correctly but the Display Driver fails to install. The error message on the report reads - "Driver Install: the specified driver package was not installed for matching devices" I was wondering if anyone can help me solve this problem any help is appreciated. Thanks, and if i need to give more specifics i can do so.

I have the same problem with an ATI Radeon Mobility HD 3400 in a Dell Studio 1537
Edit: Running 32-bit Vista, UAC disabled
