??? Drivers performance comparison: Offical vs. Modded

Except obvious resons that include better control over drivers settings are there any performance gains with modded drivers?

Does modded drivers in some cases create more problems then offfical drivers?

What are the main reasons you installed and continued to use modded drivers (or not)?

Surely it just makes sense to use the latest graphics manufacturers drivers, with bug fix's, performance improvements, more control etc.

It's true that occasionally an older driver version gives small performance gains but generally it's a step forward.

The modding is a side issue & simply a means to use the generic desktop drivers with Mobility cards where (as is usually the case) the notebook manufacturers have failed to approve & offer new versions.
