Question about mobility modder for ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470

3: Download the newest desktop drivers from www.ati.com (or get them from Driver Heaven Downloads). If you are using Windows XP make sure to download .net framework from Microsoft (this is built into Windows Vista so there is no need to install it).

[COLOR=Red]4: Run the downloaded driver, let it extract into c:/ATI/SUPPORT - but cancel the installation once the driver is extracted.[/COLOR]

5: Run Mobility Modder - browse to the driver in C:ATI/SUPPORT/ - an example of Catalyst 7.4 would be C:\ATI\SUPPORT\7-4_vista32_dd_ccc_enu_44985 - hit modify. Wait until driver is modified.

6: In Vista, go to C:\ATI\SUPPORT\7-4_vista32_dd_ccc_enu_44985 (Or whatever the driver installation folder was called), and run the SETUP.EXE. Please note you might see a "Driver is not WHQL certified", ignore this, as it is a side effect of the modification.

7: Wait until Install is finished and reboot. Enjoy the new drivers!

Ok hi everyone. I just had a question about step#4 as highlighted above. What if we didn't cancel the installation and let it go to completion. Then installed mobility modder and ran it?? Would that screw up the mod or not?

Also, do we select the folder "Support" or the folder with the driver EXE file in it when running the mod??

Hi,

if you would not cancel then you will get the message that it could not install because it couldn't find any hardware, so it wouldn't be a problem.

You can just select the support folder.

Thank you very much. Installation ran smoothly. My driver version is now 8.53 and catalyst is 8.9. Although it states my vid card is 3450 now. Is that just a script error?

The 3450 and 3470 use the same device id and they use the same software settings so it is no problem that it says that. It is just a name that it shows.
