ATI Mobility FireGL V5700 support coming?
I see the V5600 is supported, is the V5700 going to be added soon? It's standard on Lenovo model W500, but right now the provided drivers aren't working quite right (See this thread Help W500 graphics card question - W Series ThinkPads - lenovo community).
But besides all that, I'd prefer using these instead of OEM supplied drivers ;-) thanks, |

I am interested in this as well, any help is greatly appreciated. The with OEM drivers and my 2.5ghz 9400, I only get less than 3900 in 3dmarks06 which is comparable to the previous generation of this laptop, t61p.

AW: ATI Mobility FireGL V5700 support coming?
OK, that is odd. The Device - ID of the Mobility FireGL V5700 should be 9595 as you can see here. 9591 is the Device - ID of the Mobility Radeon HD3650.
Heres a GPUZ Shot of the Mobility Radeon HD3650 in my Studio 17: ![]() So i wonder if it is possible to support this Mobility Radeon HD3650 with FireGL Drivers? Would be nice for CAD ![]() EDIT: This might help: Code:

Re: ATI Mobility FireGL V5700 support coming?
Yea I realized the problem, there is a thread about this over a lenovo about if its possible lenovo just took 3650 and soldered 512 mb onto it and called it FireGL... Hopefully not, that would cause alot of outrange for people who paid the premium for w500 over t500

Indeed there is a 'problem' with the GPU in the W500. Here is the link to the picture of the GPU Picture of W500 GPU die! Not V5700? - Notebook Forums and Laptop Discussion

Re: ATI Mobility FireGL V5700 support coming?
So is there a simple way to add v5700 support? If so please give me some pointers and I will try to see if i can incorporate it myself. It seems most of what is needed is just to add in the device ID. Is that right?
The FireGL drivers are fine for my rendering applications, but they are not conducive the occasional gaming I do as they make the graphics card generate every single frame which really hampers game performance. So that's why i've been looking for radeon catalyst drivers. Thanks |

Re: ATI Mobility FireGL V5700 support coming?
I am having the exact same issues with my v5700 on a lenovo w500. specifically, trying to play the Dawn of war 2 beta on it is a hassle, as the graphic drivers make for an extremely laggy experience. IT's like the display is ½ second delayed from any command inputs (clicking / dragging mouse etc.)

I just installed the modded drivers on my Lenovo T500 with the ATI Mobility Radeon HD3650, and found that it works great after trying to get it to work properly with some work (wasn't as easy as I thought it would be) and I am still lost on how I got it to finally work! Anyway, I am getting my T500 replaced for a W500 as I want to run CAD software. Since the W500 has the ATI FireGL 5700 which is supposedly optimized for CAD, I am getting it. However I found that this GPU isn't currently supported by the modder tool. I would really like to have Driver Heaven support this chip, since one of the updates from Microsoft seems to disable the ATI GPU (at least it did in my T500 with switchable graphics) and only the Intel integrated GPU was showing up in the Display Adapter list in Device Manager!?! The Mobility Modder tool helped me solve this issue and now stuff works great! Now, since I am about to get the W500, I am a bit worried that the same thing might happen and I won't be able to fix it since the FireGL V5700 is not supported
I hope this issue is resolved by the good folks and Driver Heaven and the FireGL V5700 will finally make it into the the list of supported GPUs. Cheers!

Re: ATI Mobility FireGL V5700 support coming?
Ahhh, YES. This is still an issue, huh? I was successful getting my OS to recognize and use the ATI FireGL V5700 in my Lenovo W500. I've done it on the stock system running Vista 32-bit and now with new HD running Windows 7. Here's how I did it...
For my new system running Vista 32-bit 1) I downloaded and used the driver from Lenovo Version: 8.52.4.5-081002a-070479C Release Date: 2008/11/08 (there is a new one...see below, but have not tried the latest one in Vista) 2) AFTER you update the display driver....upgrade system BIOS. I upgraded to version 1.20-1.01. (There are more current versions now, but this one worked for me.) You can find the BIOS on the Lenovo support and download page for the W500. Read the readme.txt very carefully...I recommend printing and following precisely. 3) Reboot. Open Catalyst Control Center and you should see the FireGL V5700 recognized as the Graphics Adapter. For Windows 7 x86 (Eval build 7100), BIOS version 1.20(6FET50WW) 1) Download the driver from Lenovo Version: 8.563.2.1-090401a-079160C Release Date: 2009/04/28 2) In the BIOS windows I changed... Display > Graphics > 'Discrete' Display > OS Detection > 'Disable' 3) Install software by right clicking Setup and select Troubleshoot compatibility. Run as 'Vista'. Don't worry if the install gets hung up and doesn't install the 2005 C++. Just let it keep running. It takes awhile, but will finish. The log will show an install error with the C++...disregard. 3) Restart computer. Start Catalyst Control Center. It will list ATI Mobililty FireGL V5700 as the graphics adapter. The ATI symbol in the bottom left of the CCC window shows "ATI FIREPRO 3D GRAPHICS". Good luck! |

Methinks ^ You missed the point good man !
We are trying to Mod The V5700 into a 512mb 3650/3670 (equivalent) It is not about trying to get it recognized in Vista and Win7, although that might be some other threads concern ![]() P.s: Bump ! |
