Problem: Ati Mobility X300 on Samsung Notebook
Hi guys,
thank you for your nice tools and all the work put into this page. I've read a lot of positive articles on your mod tool so I tried to use it as well on my old Samsung R50 Notebook. Unfortunately without any succes on the new Catalyst 8.3 drivers.
My problem is the following: Watching DVDs or HD Videos, the Notebook crashes generating a bluescreen. Unfortunately the screen is only visible for a second, but I think the problem lies at "ati2mtag.sys", but I am really not sure (Windows Media Player seems to be fine, but Media Player Classic crashes the system constantly). Furthermore the system crashes on certain 3d application like GL-Quakeworld (yeah, you are reading correctly) with certain special 3d effects (RT-shadows kills the system within seconds).
Ok, I could live withoug gaming, it is just my notebook. But I want to have at least the capacities of an iPod Nano, that is to say wath HD videos!
I think that new drivers could help (mine are from 2005, the latest version from Sasmung!!!), but even with the modding tool I can't use the official ATI drivers on this Samsung crap. I even tried to d/l drivers for different Samsung models with onboard ATI cards hoping that it might work - but it does not.
I really bought a sh** notebook.... :-(
Any ideas please?
System:
WinXP SP2
Catalyst Driver: 6.14 (SAMSUNG specific crap), June 2005 (!!!)
ATI Mobility Radeon X300 (Samsug crap as well) on Samsung R50
