Having trouble updating driver

I have a Gateway 7500 Series laptop with an ATI Mobility Radeon X600. Using an older version of this program I updated my Catalyst driver to v 6.9 but after downloading 7.12 and following all the steps it hasn't changed the driver. No error message comes up and it seems like it should have worked but the information center tab on catalyst still shows v 6.9. Any suggestions as to what I am doing wrong?

What you can try is uninstall the driver and then reinstall with the new modded version.

I'm having the same issue as Tombstone, actually. IBM Thinkpad T60, ATI Mobility Radeon X1400. Unfortunately the 'proprietary' software I must use to download new drivers still has 6.14.

Removed the previous driver with CCC's uninstall dealie, then installed the new, modded drivers. One reboot later, Tombstone and I are on the same page. CCC still reads the drivers as 6.14, as does dxdiag. It's a bit disconcerting.

Any other suggestions that might help us, Spike?

What you can try is manually update the driver through the device manager and see if it install then.
