Modding FireGL V5200

I'm contemplating buying a ThinkPad with the usual bothersome FireGL V5200 Mobility, which is basically a workstation CAD version of the X1600 Mobility. I don't really have any use for CAD, but I want to be able to use the card with its normal drivers. Is it possibly to soft mod the card to revert back to the x1600? COuld I do this with Mobility Modder?I guess people who buy Thinkpads usually encounter this problem; sorry if this has already been asked here.
