Driverheaven - Driver Cleaner 1.1
Ok guys,
Here is the new version from Driver Cleaner. I Redid some small things, because some videocard manufacturer drivers also install things in a backup directory. So it is now better.
IMPORTANT: uninstall the older version first before you install this version.
It is for nVidia and ATI drivers. It will remove anything that is left by the drivers after uninstall.
You can download the new version here.

Glad to see you still working on this. It works great after testing it with ATI drivers. Keep up the good work.

I have a couple of questions re Driver Cleaner if someone could answer please.
1) Are yu able to uninstall this program if need be?
2) In the read-me it states that for first time usage with XP SP1 yu shud remove existing nVidia drivers via add/remove programs then, when prompted to re-boot go into safe mode . Is it necessary to go into Safe Mode ?
This is where I am a little confused. It states that "XP will auto detect and install drivers. Let it do it's thing. If you can cancel out of auto install, then skip the rest and run Driver Cleaner"
Can't yu just remove via add/remove and then before re-booting run Driver Cleaner ??
What is the result if yu re-boot after uninstalling drivers and then run Driver Cleaner ?
cheers
and thks for yur patience in answering

Yep you can uninstall the program
By nvidia if you uninstall the drivers than you need to reboot, because it will remove some files that are in use by windows. That safe mode is, because windows will autodetect the card and will install other drivers. In safe mode window will not do this and the program can remove all the files good. If you than boot back to normal windows than windows will start the autodetect again, but it will not be able to find drivers for it and asks you for the drivers. That routine in the readme is how i recommend it, but you can always try the way you want and see if it works and if that doesn't work than you can always use my routine from the readme.
I hope i answered your question good?

hey spike, great program, but i have one problem. when i used it to clean out the cat 2.5 set before i updated to cat 3.1's all went perfect. however, when i went to use it to clean out the 3.1's in prepping for the cat 3.2's, only nvidia was available from the pulldown menu. i tried to reinstall the drivers then run the cleaner again, but still no ATI option, just nvidia. have you seen this b4 and is there a way to fix it?

did you do a search on your pc for files like ati*.* and deleted that i guess you did that. Because you deleted the ati cleaning file from the program. Reinstall the program and it is fixed.

Yep that is a problem i heard, but that is because some registry value stays in the registry which isn't removed. I thought that when you uninstall nvidia drivers it would remove that also, but looks like it won't. I will add it to the next version which is ready soon.
