ASUS EEE Keyboard - specs and updates

We reported a short while ago about the rather nifty looking EEE keyboard due for release in Q1 2010.

We spoke to Asus today and they seemed excited about the upcoming release and they detailed the fact that they swapped the 5inch resistive touchscreen panel on the right hand side of the keyboard for a capacitive version - which will give better responsiveness and improved gesture support - although we have yet to hear if they are offering multi touch support - the current 'buzzword' courtesy of Apple.

There are a few other changes because the keyboard will now ship with an external WIFI antenna, due to in house testing they found the metal body of the keyboard was shielding the signal which caused some issues, over even a short distance. This might prove to be a little more bulky, however they are also going to be offering a cheaper plastic version with the antenna internally housed.

The specifications are rather basic, with a 1.6ghz Atom at the heart as well as 1GB of ram and two combinations of 16 or 32GB of storage. We were unable to get a confirmed price but our guesstimates are in the £280 price range.

Re: ASUS EEE Keyboard - specs and updates

I like the idea of a keyboard that wirelessly transmits the image to your TV. Nice living room experience. Though I'd have loved to have some chance of gaming on such a device, as I want in most PC's. It only transmits 720p, so there's no need for a high end graphics chip, but really, what would be better for a living room experience than a PC that allows the family to play WoW on the TV? (Not that I play WoW.)

I would love to know the graphics solution (please not GMA450) and I hope the Atom is either a dual core or something with more punch to it than the basic one.
