Intel market share up, AMD down
It seems Intel are involved in their fair share of court cases lately, however according to research released by Mercury Research Intel's market share increased slightly during the third quarter while AMD's slipped. Overall third quarter volumes were up just 1% when compared with the same time period in 2008. This is actually rather good considering the tough financial year these big corporations have endured.
This is a good indication the market is starting to get a little healthier especially when looking at the netbook and notebook market which is seeing a climb of over 20%. Desktop and server processor shipments fell however by a small margin. It seems we are entering a stronger age with more demand on portability. During the third quarter Intel captured 81.5% of the market against 80.5% a quarter ago and 81.2% during the third quarter of 2008. AMD on the other hand dropped from 18.7% to 17.8% during the second quarter of 2008 but stayed much on par with the 17.7% share in the same third quarter of 2008. Allan Campbell: Heaven Media |

Re: Intel market share up, AMD down
Aah, too bad. I really wanted that AMD get some more market. They really have some nice CPU's for a decent price.
But hey, wasn't it that first AMD had less than 15% ? Their Phenom II is extremely popular :O
