Microsoft to sack 800 more workers worldwide
Microsoft are continuing to lower their costs during the recession period by paying off more workers. An MS spokesperson told Heaven Media today that the cuts are being made in offices in various worldwide branches - no detailed specifics were given.
Microsoft have already laid off 5,000 workers in January, which was the first ever instance in their recorded history to fire such a large percentage of their staff. On a more positive note we were told that in January they would start expanding into key areas such as Web search, which makes sense as Google is still a bone of contention for Microsoft. Microsoft publically announced that they employed around 94,000 people at the end of December 2008 and by the end of September this year the number was 91,000 - this is a firm indication that they have also hired around 2,000 people in various divisions throughout the corporation. Re: Microsoft to sack 800 more workers worldwide
If even Microsoft's feeling the recession i think we're all a tad boned.
Would it be an actual sacking or would it be classed as a "Layoff"? Then again i don't think there's much of a difference i've been sacked from 1 job and laid off from another.
