AMD shares plummet almost 18%

AMD have had a great couple of months with the release of their new range of DX11 cards, however their share price has dropped 17.9% in the last few weeks.

We reported earlier today that former AMD boss Hector Ruiz has stepped down from AMD spinoff company Globalfoundries and this may be part of the reason for AMD shares plummeting. Hector is under question for possible communication of confidential information to one of the defendants in an insider trading case.

Other leading companies also drop, with Apple shares down 7.6% and Intel down 3.4%. Nvidia were also hit with a 9.0% drop which isn't being helped by their late introduction of new, competiting technology into the graphics sector.

ouch! well the Nvidia thing was almost expected since they have yet to show some nice DX11 stuff and ATI is charging ahead. But wow, didn't expect that AMD's stock would plummet for the exact reverse reason, all that good performing DX11 stuff has to be worth something on the stock market I would think.

I am pretty sure the Insider trading case has alot to do with it
