Nvidia to have Fermi ready for CES

I spoke with some industry insiders an hour ago and we have been told that Nvidia plan on having some Fermi cards ready for CES (2nd week of Jan). If you are an Nvidia lover this is good news indeed.

The big question however is will they have them working? or will it be several showcase models in glass presentation cases with prepared video footage running behind them? DriverHeaven will be at CES again so we will have all the news daily, as it comes in.

It has not been a great quarter for Nvidia with AMD/ATI really dominating all the sectors and we hope in 2010 that the guys in green finally have a reply. No one wants a one horse race - competition means lower prices for everyone ..... yes that means you.

I for one am kind of glad, this is helping ATI dominate at the moment. They need the money for their CPU business to.... This is helping them get back in Black, but you are right the competition always forces them to innovate, I don't think we would have seen Intel's i7 cores if they hadn't been whomped on so hard by the athlon 64 line

I was hoping for mid December at the latest. I heard they had to re-tape the chip, hope this revision does well.

I too was hoping for December showing, but I guess all the pessimists who said next year were the realists.

Also, it'd have been nice to have the CES dates mentioned in the news item. Google told me January 7 to 10, but I would have preferred not to have to google.

I'm afraid the nvidia cards won't have to pack a MASSIVE punch, as there are so many fanboys who are waiting to buy whatever they release whenever they release it, just so they can have the "best" first.

That said, with all the delays, they should be good. May be my next upgrade even.
