IrfanView is one of the best freeware applications I've ever seen. I use it primarily for screenshots and quick adjustments to digital camera photos, though it can do so much more.

My own Irfanview tip - some effects are confined to a selected region (if you have a selection) - this is quite useful if you want to use the pixelate effect to obscure private information from a screenshot.
The other thing to note is that the effect browser preview is not very accurate, as it does not take into account the scaling difference between the preview and the full image.

True, but to be fair the filters is only for a quick job filtering, if you wanne do it in a more sophisticated manner one uses a prof. program, but this still is a a freeware program

Actuall, even if you don't want to APPLY an effect to a selection, you can get a better idea of how it will look by selecting an area which comes up at approximately actual size in the effects browser preview.
You can then examine the result of several settings (of sharpen etc.) befor coming back out, deselecting and then applyin the affect to the whole image - much faster than trial and error.
Note that there is only ONE level of undo so any unwanted apply must be undone before any other action is taken, or your only other option is to undo ALL changes by reloading the original.
Irfanview is a VIEWER with some editing capability.
PS. Another tip - to add text up the side - Rotate, add the text, rotate back!

I just went through and checked all the images. They all showed up for me. You may want to clear out your temp folder in IE and try again. Sometimes IE will do that.

Well hope you like it all, as soon as I have some more time I will update the Guide, and make it more compatible with 3.95 & DH,
ATTN:
version 3.95 has now a Ebay shortcut & toolbar option in the installer, you may want to uncheck that before installing..

Irfanview is definitely among the best.
However it is not Freeware, as i recall it, but postcardware, that is the author would really enjoy a postcard from you. However, there are no penalties for not doing so
