![]() Hehe, nah I see what you mean. The case I got (CM-690) seems to be screwless so I'm hoping that will make it easier to install the MB and for the moment I'm using the stock Intel cooler so I think I can install this without any craziness. I'm only worried about connecting all those damn cables to the motherboard but I'll go step by step and post here if I need any hardware help (been a long time since I had to ask ).

Re: DH Guide: Building a PC (Step by Step guide)
big thing omega, take your time, check all the parts out, givem a good look over before, during and after each step. think about what order you want to put the parts in the case in. IMHO the most meticulous part is connecting the case power/reset buttons, any front USBs or front panel audio. take the extra time and thought to wire things up as tidy as possible.
i believe you'll do just fine as long as you take your time chances are youll have to remove the board out of the case to install an aftermarket cooler later also, the case being screwless, does that pertain to the mobo aswell or only the HDD\ROMS and cards? (board still needs mounting on post and attached with screws?)

I'm definitely adding a better cooler once it gets shipped out to me (I ordered a Vendetta 2 but it didn't come so I'm asking for a Xigmatek HDT-S1283 instead) but I figured for a first time build I should try a stock cooler...which still frustrated me (didn't really read the instructions for the push pins and 90degree twists). Lol, ya I took my time alright. I had the manuals for the motherboard, PSU, case and cpu all laid out in front of me so I could go step by step. Mounting the motherboard did take screws, which I looked all over for in the box but eventually found they were screwed inside the case rather than in a bag. I'm not too crazy about the PSU mounting, it goes at the bottom but I could only fit 2 of 4 screws so it's not that secure. Maybe it's supposed to be upside down? I'll post pics and stuff tomorrow. As for the cable management I'm terrible at that but it's actually not that hard to do in this case even with 3 extra 120mm fans I installed. Also, I love EVGA for their video cards but they are total idiots for putting the sata slots where they are...it's almost impossible to plug them in without having hands of surgeon.

Re: DH Guide: Building a PC (Step by Step guide)
I have followed the directions to the best of my ability. When I turn the system, I get nothing. No power. What am I doing wrong. Everything is seeded, I have check the connections. The motherboard is a Biostar GF7100P-M7S with 4 GB RAM dual core. I have installed a Radeon HD4650 .
I put a old hard drive I have with xp onboard. The only thing that I did is put a external DVD, and a cableless mouse. Can you please help me? Dennis |

Re: DH Guide: Building a PC (Step by Step guide)
Are you getting nothing at all, or it won't boot off the old hard drive? You should see a post screen first from the motherboard's bios, are you getting that?
It's not likely to boot from the old HD though.

Re: DH Guide: Building a PC (Step by Step guide)
I'm sure you have, but I have to ask anyways, double checked the front panel connectors where the power button attaches to the mobo, and power connectors to the motherboard, AC power to the PSU... etc. It's easy to miss something there. If that all looks correct can you test the PSU in a different setup to verify a good power supply?
If you're not getting anything at all we need to look at those basics first.
