DH Guide: Photoshop (Tutorial 1)
Read the guide here
_________________________ I had planned to do a few of these last year, but I haven't had the time, but due to numerous emails I receive every month I felt one was in order. Today im going to take you through one of our system review headers and detail some techniques used to get to the final result. It is a simple exercise and should hopefully be entertaining as well as educational. |

That guide was really nice Zardon, perfect intro too for someone like myself who has never messed around in Photoshop - I understood it just fine (except for how to find filter 1745a2...). I was actually wondering this morning how you did the icicles on the text - and here's the answer! Thanks!

steve that isnt bad, one quick change you could make is to soften the fade out at the bottom from the blue background image to the black background.
To do this, simply make the backmost layer a black fill. then move the blue image layer right in front of it (above it in the layer menu). Drag over the area with the selection tool as shown approximately in the image below, then go to select/feather and select for example 25. then hit the delete key on your keyboard with the blue background image layer highlighted, this has the effect of removing/deleting all pixels inside the selection area - therefore allowing more of the black to show,. however the feathering we applied softens the transition. If you dont like how it looks, use history to return to the stage before and try various feathering figures.
