Corsair, Crucial & Patriot DDR3-1600 Review @ DH

As our i7 launch article demonstrated there were some massive increases to be had from the new triple channel memory architecture in both theoretical and real world tests. Since the release of i7 and X58 motherboards a large number of triple channel kits have hit the market and today we have three of the more impressive versions on our test bench. Each will be put through a selection of real world tests to find out which of them is worthy of your hard earned cash.

Great review Zardon! It's fascinating to see the Patriot perform so well considering its pricing compared to the Ballistix and Dominator modules. The LED patterns on the Crucial Memory looks very nice, but I don't really think that the steep price can justify the aesthetics value. I think you should've given the Patriot Memory a better award considering that they held their ground throughout the whole test. Those are just my thoughts.

Nice review Stu the i7 platform sure makes DDR3 hum doesn't it. Even on my X38 boards I have found quite a difference between the DDR2 and DDR3 in terms of read and write speeds and overclockability ... the DDR3 likes to be pushed.

Great review, I think DDR3 prices are high to some extent.

Did you experience any issues such as temp spikes or instabilities running over the 1.65V recommended maximum for DRAM Voltage?

Or was it purely for testing the OC max?

Nothing out of the ordinary, no... the Corsairs run pretty hot even at 1.65v so a little more just added to that. Serious overclockers probably should go for their airflow unit just to be safe.
