Cyberpower I7 Poseidon Review @ DH

Read The Review Here

Today we're going to look at the Cyberpower Gamer Infinity i7 Poseidon, a pre-overclocked, watercooled i7 system. With a promising spec sheet this system looks like it will pack an impressive punch.

Re: Cyberpower I7 Poseidon Review @ DH

Good review and it certainly does what it is intended to do. I did note the noise issues on the video section and quite frankly expected the temps to be about 10C lower than they were. Considering the meticulous detail spent on the rest of the system cooling quieter and more efficient cooling in this section might be something to address.

Out of my price range but looks good

Re: Cyberpower I7 Poseidon Review @ DH

Hi Knight_Breed,

Thanks for the feedback. It is something we're looking to address, we're going to change the fans on the rad to higher CFM fans (92CFM to be exact) but with independent RPM controls as a result of the review and feedback, so the customer can control noise/cooling to their tastes.

We're also going to offer waterblocks for the 4870X2 in the near future for those that want them.

im tempted. not sure I can stretch to 2 grand though.

nice job. nice to see such awesome overclockers. most CPUs are overclocked by 200mhz in preoverclocked systems but this is a gigahertz! cant see the public doing much better than that, even the skilled ones.

Re: Cyberpower I7 Poseidon Review @ DH

Normally I would say im not impressed with these and laugh at the prices, but I priced this system myself and its not making hardly any markup really. Obviously I know Cyberpower get the components cheaper and can make money that way but for a punter with no clue on building and wanting good value for money while not compromising on performance, thats one hell of a system and overclock.

As for the cooling I have actually used it myself and I found it loud but not too bad, especially not considering the massive performance gains possible at those clocks !

Cyberpower just went up in my estimations, great review, ill pass this around our business.

very good system. for some reason the cyberpower site is loading very slow for me so I cant check the configurator.

Can you choose other cases for the system? I don't like that spedo. Any Lian Li's?

The Poseidon in that configuration is limited to the following cases:

Antec 1200
Coolermaster COSMOS Silent
Coolermaster COSMOS-S
Coolermaster Stacker 830/831
Coolermaster HAF
Thermaltake Spedo
NZXT Zero

So no Lian-Li at the minute I'm afraid. In the future possibly, though we could incorporate a case of your choice if you don't like the ones available, providing it's suitable and doesn't require too much Dremel work

Re: Cyberpower I7 Poseidon Review @ DH

Thanks Mike,

I actually dont really like any of those cases apart from the coolermaster Cosmos S. Just wondering if you would ever get in the Lian Li X2000. that is absolutely beautiful.

I was going to treat myself in the new year to a Core i7 but I hate overclocking as I usually end up with some random issue. This would take all the headache away. Just need to sort my funds out.

Re: Cyberpower I7 Poseidon Review @ DH

very competitive. I think Alienware have a new competitor in the UK. more customisable options too.

Only thing I think is that Cyberpower should make their own customised chassis like Alienware, would really help them stand out from the crowd.

Great system though, very impressive (even if it is ATI powered!).

I'd looked at stocking the X2000 actually and I think we will, although it wouldn't be suitable for the Poseidon due to the 140mm fan design, without heavy modification it would make fitting the W/C quite difficult.

We do offer air-cooled overclocked systems as well though. With the Coolermaster V8 for instance in that case or similar you could expect a ~3.5GHz overclocked 920.

We do actually, in combination with Coolercases UK - Computer Water Cooling Specialists, for our Black Pearl systems. Customised and modded cases

We also provide a Custom Artwork and Vinyl Wrapping service for the larger cases like the COSMOS, a few have been seen in PC Gamer as the competition prizes.

Or do you mean "from scratch" designs rather than modified?

Well I guess what im saying is that someone like Alienware offer their own unique style of chassis and I know a lot of enthusiasts who like their unique style. Like their laptops for instance, the glowing alien head, its a bit like a status symbol and you see it in TV shows and movies.

I think its where a lot of makers go wrong (and I dont mean you guys here just a general observation). Most just slap on a company badge on the front but its clearly just a hiper chassis or something plain.

Obviously the system you put up is much better value and im sure if Alienware released it they would charge another 1000 pound, but hopefully im making a bit of sense. It was the same with voodoo pc, im sure their sales werent awesome but if you find a middle point where it wouldnt cost you guys much, but it would make the systems more unique and exclusive while keeping a good price point you would be onto a winner.

I understand what you mean. It's definitely something that has been considered and is being looked into. Keeping costs down is obviously a priority when dealing with customised kit but as you say, a happy medium could be reached to provide both the custom option and without breaking the bank so to speak.

Thanks for the feedback

Thanks for the feedback Mike and on the waterblocks was going to mention that actually as a solution. The higher CFM fans should lower the noise and temps nicely but the other option is nice to have for those that want it.

I am currently working on obtaining hardware to test out CoolIT waterblock systems for SLI and Crossfire which the PR company I work with are there PR reps for.

A quick question and don't mean to go off topic but they also handle these types of systems built by iBUYPOWER and Uberclok .. how do you feel your systems compare?

Thanks again Mike on the reply !!

Well iBUYPOWER are a sister company in Germany. Uberclok I've only read about but I do like their systems as they choose a good balance of components and their system build is very good. I think price wise we're certinaly competititve and I think our expanding range of full water-cooling gives us the edge in the very high-end. XSPC is literally just down the road form us

For instance, we have a system called the "Hydra" out shortly with twin rads and twin loops, a QuadFire Overclocked i7 system. We aim to bring this under the cost of any other manufacturer to bring best value to our customers.

Are the CoolIT systems the TEC assisted water-cooled systems? I wouldn't mind having a look at one actually...

Really I didn't know iBUYPOWER was a sister company that's cool !!

On CoolIT they have a variety of different solutions I will include a few links. It's taken me almost 14 months of legwork to obtain my first CoolIT sample so looking forward to checking these products out myself.

Boreas MTEC? Chiller
Dual Drive Bay GPU Cooler

On a professional note if you or your company want to check out CoolIT products for Cyberpower shoot me off a PM and I will put you in contact with Matt Shumate he handles PR for the CoolIT account.

Cheers

Thanks that's very helpful I'll speak to our Production Manager and see what his thoughts are. The MTEC was the one I was thinking about.

You might want to check out the review we will have up later (today hopefully), a brilliant coolit product coming out soon (very competitively priced too).

If you want to get in touch with Matt Shumate Mike just tell David to pop me an email, I know him very well.

Off to look at the Coolit Domino A.L.C review thanks for the link Z I will be looking at this myself soon. Unless they ship it from Calgary I doubt I will see it before the new year but hey no rush ... I am off to read the review

I am seriously considering one of these machines.
I've visted Cyberpower and configured my spec.
How do I take advantage of the generous DriverHeaven referral to obtain free xxx overclocking.

When you're placing your order there's a referral option at the end of the order process, select DriverHeaven or make a note in the comments option and I'll be clocking your machine in no time
