PowerColor LCS HD4870 Graphics Card @ DH
PowerColor LCS 4870 Review
_________________________
When buying a graphics card everyone wants the fastest product they can get for their money and those that are successful get acclaim across the globe which inevitability leads to more sales.
Throughout product lines the same can be said and even in low end parts the model which is known to overclock best regularly sells more than the competition. In the Radeon HD 4870 family there have been numerous overclocked models released in the last few months but few go to the extreme shown by today’s review product, the PowerColor Liquid Cooling Solution HD4870.

Nice review and as I thought it was probably going to take a liquid cooling solution to cool these monsters down.
Is there a 1G version of this coming out? I saw the note in the conclusions and agree a 1G version is something I would have expected on this cooling platform ....

Re: PowerColor LCS HD4870 Graphics Card @ DH
odd that there was no comparison with the GT 260 216 SP card or is that coming with the Cat 8.12 release? Or was it because the review card was only 512MB version?
Nice drop in temps though. My Toxic idles in the low 40's and hit 60c max under load

yes, the temps are great.
Unfortunately we didnt have a comparible 512mb Nv card to test against it at hand, and if we had slotted in a 1gb nv board there would be calls of foul play.

yeah its a rather unusual decision to be honest. personally I feel that a watercooled card is obviously aiming for high clocks, this subsequently means that higher resolutions and settings would be better, but there are occasions when 512meg will not be enough to handle the detail/textures etc.
Ill ask about a possible 1gb version and let you know.

Cool look forward to that in the future. I have to say I am happy with the 4870 as it gave me a good reason to change back to ATI from Nvidia

Cool thanks and on the watercooling, high clocks and 512 vs 1G it seems your thoughts are exactly the same as mine. A lot of potential there for sure with the larger amount of RAM and under 50C load for that GPU is outstanding !
