Palit 9800GT Sonic & Palit HD4850 Sonic @ DH
Read The Review Here
___________________ Palit are one of a growing number of companies who now sell Nvidia and ATI cards which means that in the same price range they can often have several competing products. In the case of the sub $200 market two such products are their 9800GT and 4850 Sonic graphics cards. The Sonic branding signifies specifications which differ from the reference design including non standard coolers and enhanced clock speeds. Today we will be running each through the latest games as well as some high definition acceleration and overclocking tests to find out just how much Palit can improve on the original designs.

What's with the small number of games being tested? You had nine games in the previous Asus 4870 X2 Top review, which was awesome. 4 seems a bit low and some of the tested games are bit... meh.

Sorry you didnt like the games being tested. We tend to test a lot of games with high end boards, however 4-5 seems to be what most other sites do generally with all cards.
With a review in the mid range and due to time constraints (we are getting more hardware than we can physically cope with to review right now), we decided 4 was enough in this case to give a good indication of performance. |

Thanks for the reply. Guess I fell 4 is to low, because I find half of the games not interesting or maybe I'm just spoiled from the last review

To be honest, one of the things I liked about DH was the higher number of tests. I appreciate it must be a bit busy lately, but I'm also for more games being tested... :P
Also, does crysis really need to be tested at 1280x720 very high? A much higher proportion of people would cut some settings back and use 1680x1050... Just a thought. Thanks for the review though, been waiting to see any evidence of how fast the 9800GT is.
