Asus HD 4870 X2 TOP

Read The Review Here
________________________

Today we are taking a look at the new Asus 4870 X2 which is set to push the performance boundaries even further, these preoverclocked cards are lovingly referred to by Asus as the "TOP" versions.

This card has enhanced clocks with the cores increased from 750 to 790mhz and the GDDR5 modules increased from 3600 to 3660mhz (900 to 915).

This is one impressive card! I would get this for the reduced temps and get a nice bonus in the form of the increased performance.

Good review of course. I hope more companies will follow Asus on this excellent move to decrease the temperatures of this card. I think (all things considered) with Asus releasing this, the best just got better.

yeah nice review, love the performance and temperatures. Only downside is the price though, makes the 280 GTX seem very attractive in the UK, especially as OCUK are selling them for £250. that asus board will probably be £420. Can almost get 2x 280 gtxs for that price.

that said. I hope more companies copy asus and sort that cards cooling out.

I agree, the price is too high compared to the nvidia card, even with the better performance it might be too much when deciding what card to buy. I hope AMD will try to reach the same price as Nvidia, then I suspect the 4870x2 will be a no brainer for almost any gamer.

The performance of this card is apparently so impressive that my Firefox fainted twice while I was reading the review.

Seriously, it deserved the "best in class" title, as ASUS did go the extra mile while building it. It's a pity that the price is so high, the expected 20% increase over the cards with only slightly lower clocks is a little excessive (it is well made, but it's not like other cards come without a warranty).

Also, it's nice to see crossfire working so well.

Great reviewe. ASUS TOP series is great line. tthe price is hard to deal with. hopefully it will dop as christmas draws near. It is good to hear of the extra workmanship they put into the card like the efi shields and bettter parts to keep it cooler than reference caRDS.

ohhhhh thats very nice. Asus do need to work out their pricing however, the slower clocked one of this card as you say is almost £400 ! what price will this be? £430? £450? Those with no budget will love it, but the rest of us will end up with something inferior. Only problem I have sometimes with Asus products is the price.

Anyone seen it for sale yet? I can't find it anywhere, even on Newegg in the US......

impressive with AA on as always (just even faster)

Not sure the price is justified, if it was about 50-70 less, would be a great deal. HIghest performing card on the market, I guess you always pay a premium.
