Well, shows their selection works, the reference did not hit the same core overclock as the "black" out of the box setting, and the black still had a little in reserve.
Makes sense, I suppose, they probably test them at a slightly higher speed, then knock it down a notch or two to give a safety margin, and while a single overclocker can seek the limits of their individual card, marketing a pre-overclocked edition requires a setting the a reasonable number of samples will achieve.
