DH Review: Silverstone Decathlon 1200W

Read The Review Here
______________________

Today we will take a look at a very powerful PSU from Silverstone, the Decathlon 1200W. Silverstone have taken the core of a slightly older server-oriented Olympia 1200W PSU, and have re-designed it to suit the requirements of hardcore enthusiasts, thus the 1200W Decathlon was born. Silverstone are renowned among for building products to the highest standards, so with that in mind let us see if the 1200W Decathlon can deliver the goods.

Not at all. The ZM1200 is an even more expensive and supposedly an even better PSU from a different series of the same company. The DA1200 is still in production and there were no problems with the unit I received. I haven't heard anything about QC issues or it being replaced or by any way recalled.

The "cherry-picked" question is beyond my capability to properly answer. Even if it was a 'cherry-picked' unit, a) Nobody (myself included) has a way to prove that and b) it still performed flawlessly. But the possibility of Silverstone picking and testing units off the production line to see which of them would perform best in order to ship them to reviewers is not only unlikely but unimaginable. A company with that kind of reputation and production capability has no need to employ such tactics to begin with.

ive been getting tons of stories on newegg where silverstone has been replacing defactive DA1200s with ZM1200s for some reason..... so i had assumed that they were phasing it out.

silverstone tends to mess up every once in a while but they sure do know how to correct it it seems. i see a group of baad PSUs in a row then a new batch comes in, all good 100% stable....
