DH Review: GMC AVC-S7 Case
Read The Review Here
_________________ GMC is a Korean based company who focus almost entirely on the design and production of HTPC cases. We had a look at several of their products in the past, each of them designed with a different purpose in mind. Today we will take a look at their latest HTPC case, the AVC-S7. The AVC-S7 is an elegant but very short case which is designed to match DVD players and other home theater equipment. Let us see if such a short case can be practical for housing modern home theater systems.

Yes, a very nice review.
![]() What can I say, it's a good product, but has a few minor yet quite irritating omissions that may eventually leave one screaming for a rev. 2, such as bad reset switch placement, poor display readability in strong light, sluggish software and no DVD burning capability. The last one and the inability to install a discrete graphics card prevent this from becoming a full featured home entertainment system and limit it to strict home theatre use. That was probably the manufacturer's idea, but an HTPC should be able to do more than a DVR, not less, so the fact that one has to either replace the built in drive or have another computer just to be able to burn a disc is unforgivable, especially since this is not a cheap case. It was probably the manufacturer's idea that this would not be the only PC in a household, but I have a bunch of non-technical friends this case would be perfect for and sathisfy all their needs, except that all of them burn a disc once in awhile, so it was a very dumb cost cutting decision.
