DH Review: Noctua NH-U12P

Read The Review Here
______________________

Noctua has developed an entirely new fan: the NF-P12, which uses nine fan blades, two more than a standard fan. Additionally, it has notches which Noctua have trademarked, called "Vortex-Control Notches" these help in reducing the noise emitted by the fan. Below are some text and graphs explaining the technique supplied by Noctua.

If this cooler it's not costing more than the Thermalright Ultra Extreme!

Also reviewed by Anandtech - with push-pull fans, it's an extreme performer.

The main feature seems to be the fan itself, with the vortex control notches, though it's still a centre drive (whatever happened to TMD?).

It uses the now common heatpipe suspended tower configuration, or "vertical" layout, with 4 double ended heatpipes connecting to the heatsink in two close groups.

There is no bending of the fins, a technique used on some heatsinks to force the airflow into greater reaction with the fins, or to kick some flow to the motherboard MOSFETs. I would suspect motherboard components run warmer with this than with a heatsink of downdraught/horizontal configuration.
