DH Review: Zalman VF1000 LED and ZM-RHS88

Read The Review Here

People who have purchased Radeon HD 2900 series graphics cards will without doubt be constantly bothered by noise from the cooler, while those who own Nvidia’s 8800 series are far more likely to be happy with their heatsink/fan combination. Still, there are always improvements which can be made to cooling solutions and even if performance remains the same, the addition of an aftermarket cooler can take a reference design card and make it more attractive. Ideal for case modders.

Today we are taking a look at one of Zalmans latest graphics card coolers, the VF1000 LED and professional heatsink (ZM-RHS88). We will be installing the products on an 8800 GTS card to see just how well they cope with one of Nvidia’s high end models.

Wow that looks like one hell of a heatsink, for £50 it sounds very extreme for me.
I know the HSF Combo on my graphics card is loud as bloody hell but i'd rather put up with it than spend that much.

Call me a retard but does this HS/F only fit on 2900s/8800s?

No, you can use it on many cards: ::: Zalman ::: (but the RHS88 is 8800 only)

The VF1000 looks very good, I hope they will make a non-LED version.

nice cooler but rather expensive. I searched North American vendors and found the cooler for $55 USD and the heatsinks for $29.99 so $85 USD plux taxes and shipping is too much for an air cooling solution

I know it is probably mandatory on this type of review to use the included TIM. It would be nice though to also get some numbers with using another TIM like as5 or even the new ac mx 2. The reason is I use as5 on my sli 8800's with stock coolers and clocks I get 44c/52c bottom card, 43s/50c top card with 68c room temps. $170.00 is way to much cash for those temps and for a little less noise.
