DH Review: DXG-506V Digital Camcorder/ MP3 Player/ Voice Recorder
Read The Review Here
___________________________ The product I have received for review is the DXG 506V Digital Camcorder. It is a very compact unit about the size of a bar of bath soap. It easily fits in one hand and, for the most part, can be operated single-handedly once the viewer is opened and in position. |

I had the same feeling at the end... a good stocking stuffer for a young teenager. Nice review.

So much corruption in this industry but we rise above it. We are here to serve you guys, not any company. As I said in my last email: "We are here to serve our public, not take bribes from PR companies. If you are unable to take criticism and get your partners to improve the products based on fair and unbiased technical analysis within our reviews then we really do not wish to deal with you either." |

Agreed, products need to be judge as they are and the general public needs to know exactly what its like.
All websites should have the same attitude as DH. |

Yeah those f***** PR companies think that every site says positive things for their clients products if you give them enough money and free stuff...

ya know, call it 150 bucks, it's like a dirt cheap multi function unit, now if they were charging anymore then that i'd call that a total rip, but yeah, it's a toy, expensive one mind you.
I'd rather put the money towards a single fuction.... like a digital camera with no concern or need for anything else, then throw another hundred + bucks and get something decent...

DXG I've heard of them they're just another "generic" but customers are enticed
do to the fact their products are much cheaper than their brand name competitors. Though several of these devices exist in the $100 category. They make digital cameras etc too. I've had customers call asking for their products at work looking to compare prices. But they’re not widely carried which would be why many have not heard of them. Quality, value, and features are usually sub PAR in said category. Basically they feed off the masses of customers who don't know any better and let price and fancy marketing terms purely are their guide. For them to try to alter/ get removed/ replace an existing review of their products is under handed. But not beyond such companies remember their feeding off the don't knows, the less fortunate, and the thrifty in society so I won't put attempts at spinning their product reviews into their favor past any of them. I would place an update at the last page of the review stating what the company tried to do. So that people looking for reviews who will see it in the future will know the tactics they so readily employ to sale their products. Remember there at the bottom of the barrel and there is nowhere to go but up or out of business. VS the better known brand names with reputations to protect. I have seen them and others around the holidays with large mail in rebates on their products. Of course one you apply for a rebate your product is un-returnable to the store. Likely where they got their marketing famed 2%? market share . So many customers these days just buy what is cheap or what on sale with little Knowledge. Wich actully makes quite a bit of money for those selling inferior products at rock bottom prices. When you think about it....

Yes, however we need to remain focused. the product isn't quite that bad. It would be hard to recommend on any level however, considering the review that Lewis gave it. However I stand by my team, if any company doesn't like the end result of a review then we will work with them to attempt to improve their product and to detail our findings on any level necessary. Many companies have done so in the past and we always offer the same courtesy to every company we deal with. I even offered the PR company for DXG the option to reply within the conclusion and they didn't wish to do so, they just wanted the review removed in exchange for a higher end product. I said we would be more than willing to review the product however nothing will be removed.
it is worth mentioning that we haven't dealt with DXG directly, rather their PR company so i am unsure if they are aware of the practices. Its irrelevant anyway, it just reinforces the amount of corruption within this industry on all levels and sometimes I feel we are one of the few sites who just review products as we honestly find them. Quite sad this is how things are, and I would love dailytech to reveal the findings of this article http://dailytech.com/Pay+to+Play+Unc...rticle7510.htm |

Personally i don't see what the problem with the review was, it was fair, Dyre was far from scathing in his opinions, he was just honest.
Companies need reviews like these as feedback to improve their products, or else they're just going to get left behind

FWIW, if anyone checked out the Amazon.com link, you'll see the original MSRP as $200 smackaroos! The going price right now, new, is $104 with used ones at $95. (Updated since the review was written.)
I have a 10-year old granddaughter who might enjoy this unit for a short time. I also have a granddaughter who just turned 13 this past Monday (11th). If I gave this unit to my teenage granddaughter for her birthday, she'd wonder what she did wrong to deserve the punishment. No, I wasn't being harsh in the review at all. I tried several options to see if I could get this unit to perform even halfway decently and everything I tried resulted in frustration. Anyone interested in seeing other of the photos/videos I took with this thing? LOL I have a few I could post.
